Anyone here seen "The War Room"?
Movie from the 1992 election that we TiVo'ed the other night. Features James Carville and George Stephanopolous in Clinton's bid to beat Bush the Elder. I actually took some comfort in watching it. The old Bush was using the same dirty tricks as his brat son is using, and he still lost. It's just comforting to know that we've dealt with the same Bush Bastard mindset and won before, even with all the Clinton scandals that were being dredged up. We can do it again and in my opinion, this time we have an even better - and certainly a less scandalous - candidate!

2. I am hopeful too
But they are spending more money, and people are less informed (and easily manipulated by unimportant issues) and the wild card of fear from 9/11 should be taken into account.

4. Not to Yabbut... but... ;-)
Elder Bush was playing the "terra" card quite a bit too, from what the movie showed. They had the same dirty tricks and I think that with the advent of blogs and the Internet - the general "unwashed masses" are a lot less "unwashed" these days. They have more chances to read more non-standard news drivel. I remember watching the campaign back then and I didn't have a clue of all the crap that was going on behind the scenes - and now I do. Back in 92, your options for alternative media (both on the television and on the computer) were nonexistent compared to today. Not only do we have blogs and non-mainstream news sites, but because of cable we have The Daily Show and other shows that at least have a chance of distributing the news more truthfully than the Big 3.

5. the lesson is
don't turn the other cheek. answer every stupid charge and fight like an underdog until the very end. daddy bush has been given this rep as a gentlemen who wouldn't fight dirty - don't believe it. they rummaged thru clinton's fbi files and questioned his patriotism until the very end.
