More Signs Of Desperation !!! - Sign Pledge Of Support, Or No Tickets !!!
Demos are asked to back Bush before Cheney speech

Richard Benke
Associated Press

<snip>

RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Some Democrats who signed up to hear Vice President Dick Cheney speak Saturday were refused tickets unless they signed a pledge to endorse President Bush.

And...

"These types of evasive tactics are occurring all over the county as the Bush-Cheney campaign refuses to allow Americans into their events."

Two men who had sought tickets reported they were required to give name, address, phone number, e-mail address and driver's license number, and then were presented the pledge of endorsement when they arrived to pick up the tickets Thursday.

One of them, John Wade of Albuquerque, said he signed the pledge because he wanted the tickets but then changed his mind. "I got to thinking this is not right," Wade said. "They're excluding people -- that's what has me so upset." He returned the tickets, and campaign workers returned his pledge.

***************************************************************************

So let me get this straight. If I want to go see MY Vice President, or MY President (wave of naseau after typing that), whose salaries are being paid for with MY tax dollars, who are campaigning (flying on jets paid for by ME and YOU)...

I have to sign a fucking pledge of support BEFORE I can here what they have to say???

What if I don't like what they said? What if I disagree?

These guys are truly desperate!

:wtf:

3. The new campaign slogan
"Are you moral enough, rich enough, and white enough to vote for Bush Cheney in 2004? Sign here."

5. no, it's a psychological tactic
I ran across it in a book when I did my graduate work in persuasion. Here's how it goes:

First, people's minds are hard to change. If you do change a person's mind, it is very likely that in time it will go right back to where it was before.

Second, when a person "signs" something, they find it hard to go back on that "signed statement." Think about it--you don't put your "John Hancock" to just anything. You think seriously about what you sign.

So in the studies I looked at, they experimented with groups of people who had listened to a speech advocating a position they did not necessarily support.

Some groups were asked to sign a statement of support after the speech.

Weeks later, members of all groups were contacted for their position. The people who signed statements were most likely to stick with the position advocated by the speaker. Those who had not signed were least likely to support the position of the speaker.

I was wondering when they were going to pull this old trick out of the hat.

10. It's not just a psych tactic for those who are attending...
It's more than just that, but that is pretty darn handy. Media swarms around these cats (well, at least when you can actually see Cheney in the daylight). Opposing points of view cannot be tolerated, but you can hardly have the media seeing you escorting out folks who are asking tough questions. Heaven knows the media won't ask the questions.

12. Hey JCRobinhood!
I enjoyed watching the convention at your house the other day!
When I saw Bush speak at LJ Coliseum a few years ago there was none of that crap (yes, I booed Bush and Jesse).
This shows how desperate and scared they are.
Bwahhaaaaahaaaa!

6. Isn't there a potential lawsuit here?
Don't the president and vice president have to make themselves available to the American people?

7. What does it mean
to sign a "pledge of endorsement?" Are you pledging to sell them your soul? Give them your first-born child? Or, God forbid, actually vote for them?

9. I was about to say, you have to show you know how to do the secret
salute, too. Start with the hand at mid chest, and then straight forward and slightly up.

13. What would happen of they signed then broke the pledge??

Would they get sued?

Would they get arrested? Charged with what?

Can this type of pledge be really binding?

16. Kick, because this makes it clear
what type of people are running the country into the Constitutionless ground. Only the party faithful may listen to the great VP.

Insane!
