"Focus On The FAmily" is toooooooo funny! |
|
I'm watching "Affluenza" on LinkTV, and it's talking about the advertising directed at children. They just did an interview with some young man on the staff at FOTF, and he was saying the corporations are hostile to families: they need a constant supply of new consumers, and are targetting kids.
BWAHAHAHA! What a disconnect.... here are the people putting the corporations in power, complaining about the toxic effects those corporations have on families.
DUH.......
This is too funny!

1. That's something that always bothers me |
|
about conservatives. They often support the same issues we do without even understanding that it's their party that's doing these things. What's the problem with these people? Are they just so narrowly focused that they refuse to look at the big picture?

2. That's what we need to change..... *WE* haven't gotten our issues out |
|
clearly, and proposed REAL solutions to solving some of this.
We DEMs have a LOT of work to do.

4. Have you READ Affluenza? It's stock-full of these examples. |
|
In fact, there is a significant amount of time devoted to discussing how Focus on the Family has actually been talking about this for quite some time. And believe it or not, to their credit, there are a significant number of conservatives who recognize this disconnect.
Of course, I find the overwhelming majority of what they stand for absolutely abhorrent. But I must give credit where credit is due for their stance on this specific issue.

6. Nope, haven't read it..... that's why I'm watching it... |
|
And, I know, given what DU is about, I'll be told to read it. Well, I don't have the money to buy books, and the library is always a long waiting list.
So, I'm watching it. I know..... not as good, but at least I'm trying, right?
As I said, I think this is where the DEMs have fallen down on the job...... we let the RW win on superficial issues, and didn't go after the big ones, where we could build connections.
WE have a lot of catch up to do.

The corporate fascists are masters at manipulating the general public around issues like racism, anti-gay bigotry, etc. while they turn around and rape them blind.
