1. Witnesses say Wallace did nothing, call incident "appalling" --
"Ernesto Cavalli, Witness: 'He is 86 years old. The poor guy can not... the inspector can say what he wants. It is a lie. It is a lie. Plain and simple. I saw the whole thing. If I have to, I will be a witness.'

Diane Dawson, Witness: 'They threw him in cuffs. There were policemen and, i mean, it was unbelievable. It was appalling. He didn't do anything.'"

3. From your article (not in the original post)
One police officer reportedly said he thought Wallace was going to lunge at the other inspector, so he handcuffed the 86-year-old journalist and hauled him off to a police precinct where he was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
:wtf:

10. arrested him for what he "thougt" he was going to do
this is what i have been talking. punishing not for a crime, but punishing for what could have happened. that is where we are and many in the nation has created just this. the poor and the black have been experiencing this for years, just filtering its way up the social scale,.........so now is the time for middle and upper class and whites to start whining, not caring when it wasnt happening to them

7. We must come to expect such in a totalitarian police-type state that far
too many Americans seem to want by supporting/not strongly dissenting this this administration's policies.

12. "approached overtly assertive and disrespectful"

Those repubs are so sensitive aren't they.

I mean, how assertive and disrespectful can you be while approaching someone? Was Wallace giving the inspectors the finger while walking up to them, or what?

15. He probably shouldn't have been arrested BUT.......

It chafes me when people think they can doublepark just to "run into the deli for a second to pick up my order" - wreaks all kind of havoc on traffic congestion in a big city. Is it too much to ask that the driver pull over to the curb - there must be places to do that even if they aren't legal parking places - the street isn't a legal place to park either. Too many people think the rules apply to everyone else but them. That said, the way to handle this is a ticket with a stiff fine and points on the driving record for obstructing traffic. It is possible that Wallace got out of line with the officers, though. Being 86 years old is no guarantee that he would not do that.

16. Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC)
There is a thread on this in LBN. Note the article says that this was TLC inspectors. They took him to an unmarked TLC vehicle. He was escorted to the precinct.

The LBN thread has more information about the TLC. Is it just me or does something not sit right with the TLC's authority in this case. Something doesn't seem right (at least not to me)
