CBS Poll for Democratic Presidential Candidate.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/10/opinion/polls/main562628.shtml
Scroll down through all of the Bush poll stuff.

"CAN YOU NAME ANY DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES?

All Americans
No, cannot recall any 66%
John Kerry 7%
Howard Dean 7%
Joe Lieberman 6%
Richard Gephardt 3%
Bob Graham 1%
John Edwards 1%
Dennis Kucinich 1%
Al Sharpton 2%
Others 6%

Among Democrats
No, cannot recall any 66%
John Kerry 7%
Howard Dean 7%
Joe Lieberman 6%
Richard Gephardt 3%
Bob Graham 1%
John Edwards 1%
Dennis Kucinich 1%
Al Sharpton 2%"

The thing that LEAPS out at me from this poll is that 66% of NOT ONLY all Americans but DEMOCRATS as well cannot recall the names of ANY of the candidates currently running. A poll such as this tends to confirm the theory that the only advantage that a candidate like Lieberman or Gephardt has is name recognition. Once those 66% wake up things are going to change in this race.
Dean and Kerry are tied in this poll among Democrats and Americans at large.

1. Among the INFORMED at large
But yes, you are correct. Good to see Lieberman lose his lead, he was never presidential material, in my opinion.

2. What's also interesting
is how the two mirror each other. I would expect DEMOCRATS to differ somewhat in percentages - but they're identical (except for that elusive Others candidate).

3. Definitely noticed that too
wondered if perhaps it was a misprint.

4. Proof positive
that polls are bullshit, especially in this day and age.

Take them with a grain of salt.

6. Oh absolutely
I just had to post this because of some people who rush on here with polls to try to say how Lieberman is going to be the nominee...How can that be said when, according to a poll like this, 66% of not only Americans, but Democrats, can't even name ANY of the nominees?

7. Polls are largely BS...
But if you don't think a campaign staff doesn't look at those impotent numbers and privately shake their heads you're crazy. But the good side is, while not well known, most of the 9 probably have low negatives. Big upside.

5. The positive spin on this
At least if you like Dean, is that he's gone from around 1% in the last poll to being tied with Kerry.
