1. I think it started back with the War of the Worlds |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 12:23 AM by noahmijo
Okay I'm 22 here so I'm not old enough to remember this but I think the thing was, was back in the 60's or something, when HG Wells' "War of the Worlds" came out, the whacky acid trippers in NYC thought that aliens could read their minds, but couldn't do it if they wore tin foil on their heads.

tinfoil hat is slang, I guess, for conspiracy-theorists. Like, tinfoil will protect your brain from microwave rays or psych-ops type stuff, but it's a metaphor, so if you "put on your tinfoil hat" then you are approaching a subject with a conspiraty theory mindset...

3. It means paranoid and conspiratorial. |

I think it comes from stories of paranoid schizophrenics who think the govt. is reading their thoughts making tinfoil hats to protect themselves.

What Is An AFDB? AFDB head
An Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie (AFDB) is a type of headwear that can shield your brain from most electromagnetic psychotronic mind control carriers. AFDBs are inexpensive (even free if you don't mind scrounging for thrown-out aluminium foil) and can be constructed by anyone with at least the dexterity of a chimp (maybe bonobo). This cheap and unobtrusive form of mind control protection offers real security to the masses. Not only do they protect against incoming signals, but they also block most forms of brain scanning and mind reading, keeping the secrets in your head truly secret. AFDBs are safe and operate automatically. All you do is make it and wear it and you're good to go! Plus, AFDBs are stylish and comfortable.
What are you waiting for? Make one today!BEWARE OF COMMERCIAL AFDBS: Since you should trust no one, always construct your AFDB yourself to avoid the risk of subversion and mental enslavement. Sometimes, AFDBs will be sold on places like eBay. Do not purchase these pre-made AFDBs, even if the seller seems trustworthy. They may contain backdoors, pinholes, integrated psychotronic circuitry or other methods that actually promote mind control.http://zapatopi.net/afdb.html

8. to counter the government's secret beam weapon... |
|
supposedly the black ops part of the government has developed a weapon that shoots electromagnetic beams of a particular wavelength that produces a violent psychosis in people... I happily managed to tape an interview (mainly for entertainment value) with a woman who researched this on (here in Portland) KBOO's Electric Salon program soon after the OJ Simpson trial... she claimed the CIA or whoever was aiming the beam weapon at an unsuspecting public in order to monitor the results in a general level of violent irrational acts...She also said that the government had hired Crips and Bloods to man these experimental weapons and hide in the bushes along the freeways and aim them at unsuspecting passersby....And oh yes OJ Simpson was definitely a victim! When asked for a possible defense she mention wearing a metallic helmet, preferably copper but aluminum foil would also work, however not as much...
Not that I actually believe this, just thought I'd inform you from what I know!

17. heh heh! Might be worth something for protection |
|
My brother used to hide in the oleanders on the San Bernardino Freeway and jump out at the unwary with bad cars--he used to offer to fix them. No THANKS pal, I'd rather walk--he's a real wierdo. He really DID hide in the bushes along the freeways, and since he's such a creep, maybe there's something to this rumor. I actually thought he was the one that killed Bill Cosby's kid--he's that creepy--when I saw the police drawing. White guy, greasy long hair, jumped outta the bushes to help with a flat tire? Had my brother all over it, with a dose of hate "n***ers" It fits.

You still in Portland? I'm in Salem, and have given a few dollars to KBOO. I don't listen much anymore, or give anything (too poor, but I USED to give about $300 per year for about 3 yrs) , but I give them credit to my awakening. Lorena McKinnett, Robbie Robertson, Jim Hightower, Mumia Abu Jamal, Pacifica, etc. etc., etc.
To think I was ever so insulted! I never knew before how much I'd been lied to before I started listening to KBOO, and it was only by accident, and I was SO insulted--uh, so I LOOKED IT UP. So you CAN overcome ignorant freeperhood--It makes you want to proove them wrong, ya know, or it makes you just WANNA KNOW first off--then you get pissed. Why was this NEVER on tv if it was TRUE, etc? See?
Never made a bit of dif to me until I heard Dick Gaughan, and he opened my eyes BIG TIME. Met him 3 times; thank YOU CELTIC HOUR, KBOO.

in my opinion, it's a derogatory term for people who don't buy the official Government line on everything that happens - in other words, if you don't meekly accept that Oswald killed Kennedy, or that 9/11 was a total surprise and our wonderful Government got caught with their pants down, or that the murders of J.F.K., M.L.K., and R.F.K. within a few years of each other, were totally coincidental. Well, call me a tinfoil hatter, but I don't believe in coincidence.
