A question on Vietnam and the National Guard |
|
We all know W got into the National Guard to avoid Vietnam. He says that if his unit was called, he would have gone. (Funny how no one asks him why he didn't just volunteer for Nam) Does any one have info on how many N.G. units, if any, went to Nam? This could be more blowing smoke, which of course the media will never look at.

1. about 30,000 National Guard |
|
went to Vietnam during the entire conflict. Almost all of those right after the Tet Offensive. This is out of 2 million or so soldiers.
By contrast there are probably more than 30,000 National Guard soldiers in Iraq now (out of 130,000)
