O.K. the cnn front page headline....what is the story with that?

It's about the renewed Afghan bombing but the jetfighter drawing, the map, the insert of the american flag? Is that really the biggest headline news and couldn't they have included some kind of picture instead of that ridiculously silly jingoistic graphic? If I see any more pathetic whoring than this between now and the end of the week it will be no small feat.

1. Simple. It distracts from the quagmire of Iraq.

Afghanistan is easy by comparison. We can say we're kicking butt there. We can engage in significant action there and still report "no American casualties". We can look like we're being successful in the fight against "terra".
