Is any one else scared???
I have been trying to put this 9/11 conspiracy theory out of my mind, but the more I read, the more it keeps creeping into my mind.

If it is true, they tried to scare the Blue states, but failed to scare us enough.

If they are crazy enough to hit there own country, what will they do to hold the office???

Is anyone getting nervous or am I the only one making plans for evacuation.

I live in CT and have been making mental plans.
At the first notice of any disaster, I plan to get the kids out of school and drive north until I can drive no more??? Just to get away from the nuclear fall out?? Am I nuts??

2. well...
they won't *hit* the country. that would be the absolute END of bushco as it would demonstrate their utter FAILURE to protect the nation...

no, what they are *likely* to try is a staged 'THWARTING' of a major attack. brown-skinned men recruited from Gitmo, a big pile of white powder and brave commander bunnypants proclaiming his VICTORY.

if there's a nuke attack, bushco will NOT be behind it.

You are probably right.
Thanks, I might be able to put it out of my mind and get on with my day
It won't be a physical attack.
It will be a mental attack.
You are probably right.
Which would be more devastating???
Leads one to wonder. Hmmmmmm

4. To quote a Democratic president who lead us out of a far worse situation
"The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself."

It has NEVER been more true.

You have a far greater chance of being killed in your car (or any number of other ways) than from an act of terrorism.

11. right now I'm too busy making plans for Ivan
You know...I don't think it EVER hurts to have a bug-out kit of essentials, medicine, insurance papers, etc. Make sure you have proper carriers for all your pets. You know, just have a plan to secure people, pets, photograph, and whatever property you can secure, pretty much in that order of importance. If you never need the plan, it's great, if you do need it, it's there.

Dick Cheney openly threatening us with another attack is scary but I'm hoping he just mis-spoke because of all the alcohol he ingests and he does not really mean to imply that "the missiles were launched five minutes ago" (in the immortal words of Ronald Reagan) if people are bold enough to exercise their right to vote!

We've already lived through one bloodless coup (2000) and I don't expect anything on the level of casualties of the Civil War but certainly another 9-11 is not beyond them. They will kill to keep what they have, considering there is a good chance that Cheney is personally guilty of many crimes in regard to Halliburton contracts and so on. If Kerry is in office, those crimes may be investigated, and even a short sentence could be a life sentence for Cheney. So, yes, I think he will kill to stay in power but I'm thinking -- hoping -- there is a limit to how many they will kill. You can terrorize people with only 5 deaths -- the anthrax killer proved that. And Malvo didn't kill many more to terrorize the DC area.

Just do what you can to secure yours and yours, and after that, try not to dwell. I don't think they will stoop to nuclear bombs.

15. Thanks, I have been thinking the same thing
Since, I am planning a quick get away. I want everything in a box.
I have not done it yet, just planning in my mind.
I was thinking batteries, radio, portable TV, food, water, blankets, and possibly a tent.
I never thought about papers. good idea.
I will take photos on CD. otherwise, my photos will take up half the space I have.
I don't need medicine, but aspirin might be helpful for the major head ace I am starting to get thinking about this all. LOL
I bet a google search for survival kit ideas would help too.
It would be good to be prepared and then hope it collects dust next to my Y2K survival kit.

19. a small first aid kit not a bad idea
Aspirin, ibuprofen, hydrocortisone, rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide are all worth finding room for. If you are tent camping, there is a chance of mosquito bites, and they can be surprisingly irritating if the itching is not controlled with hydrocortisone (some prefer benadryl).

21. I've been scared since election day.
Kept reminding myself that I'd lived through Nixon, Reagan & Bush I. So, even if Gore lost, I'd survive. But there was this feeling in the pit of my stomach.

So I woke up to a hoarse Dan Rather & found an empty newspaper machine at work; they'd trashed a whole edition. After the Florida "recount", the Supreme Court decision, 9/11, 2 unnecessary wars, & everything else Bush has done to wreck this country, I've gotten used to the feeling.

There's some hope right now & that's where my energy should go.

(Since disasters can occur anywhere--even outside the evil, hurricane-scoured South--everyone should have a kit.)

22. Not of a US administration
I don't believe that ANY U.S. President (Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, et cetera) would deliberately cause harm to his or her own people. It's one thing to send them into harm's way (Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Somalia), but it's quite another to deliberately slaughter them.
Moreover, U.S history should inform us all of several things, not the least of which is that we have always had peaceful transfers of power at the federal level. There has been some legal wrangling, and various portions of the election process have gone to both the Supreme Court and the House, but at the end of the day, no one gets shot.

A first time for everything
Just because there's never been mass bloodshed in a transfer of power before, doesn't mean it can't happen. There's a first time for everything.

And Bush and Cheney aren't like typical Americans. They don't give a shit about anyone but themselves and care about nothing but retaining power so they can drive this country into a hole and maintain a vise grip on the White House...forever. DUN DUN DUN!!

But seriously, we have no idea what these people are capable of. That doesn't mean I think they'll nuke us all, I'm just saying.

When Cheney says there will be another attack if we vote wrong, he is not warning, he is threatening.

The FBI could have followed the 9/11 money right to the very top. Ever heard of PROMIS software? It gave us advance warning and could have given us the whole terror network on 9/10. At the top of the pyramid, though, I bet there are some familiar faces...

43. I Don't Think There Is Much Chance Of Your Concern Coming To Pass
I have been wondering over the last few weeks why the administration officials have had such a haunted look.

- Poll numbers? Not likely, things seem to be breaking slightly their way at the present time.
- Iraqnam? Again not likely. They haven't given much of a damn up to now.
- Economy? No, I don't think so. Unprecedented Keynesian economic policy has staved off the financial collapse until after the election.
- 'Actual' attack in U.S.? My leading contender.

Their entire campaign is based on how they are protecting the 'homeland'. Any hit up to a couple of weeks before the election will go badly for them (any closer to the election, who knows what will happen as emotions will be running rampant).

My worry, if I were to worry about the current level of terrorism in this country, is that the administration knows how little progress they have made regarding homeland security. As a result, they know they are in a race to election day with their poorly implemented security plan. They are feeling the pressure, hence the haunted appearance.

Regarding terrorism, look at it this way. The U.S. is a big country, and the probability of being in the wrong place for the one attack every 3 (or more) years is virtually nil.

I'm a hell of a lot more concerned about sharing the road with the Navistar CTX.

are now admitting that we're really pissing off Shiites in the Middle East. We should be diverting the funds that are being used to prosecute this war toward defending the homeland better. I'm not specifically worried about being at ground zero (unless North Korea gets crazy), but we all have experienced how a terrorist attack can further ruin the economy.....

46. I Have Come To The Conclusion That The 9/11 Impact On The Economy
is a red herring.

GDP has been positive since two months after the attacks. Corporate profits are at record levels.

The problem with the economy is that it is not creating jobs consistent with past 'recoveries' with similar GDP increases. The reason? My theory is off shoring, the labor black market, and the loss of workers bargaining power (60 hrs. work for 40 hrs. pay). In other words, the destruction of the middle class.

47. Of Course It Is!!
Since when have you known this Administration to not take any convenient hook to hang the blame on when their moronic policies backfire on them??

And you are so right. The economy is great, if you're a rich business owner. It sucks if you are un- or under-employed, seeking a better life for yourself, if you are a struggling worker.

FDR once said, "When Labor does well, America does well." It's time we had a man in Washington who believed that, once again. Because it is the truth.

There corporate moguls cannot see the forest for the trees. They see only the bottom line, and they see labor as a HUGHE expense (debit) item on their balance sheet. so they offshore a bunch of jobs at 10% of the labor cost. This makes their balance sheet look pretty for a while.

What they fail to realize, the more they do this...the less Americans are working...the less demand there will be for whatever product or service that business is providing...especially if it is a non-essential item...as most of the consumer goods/services available currently are! The less demand there is...the less they will need to make, and the less profit they will make, and sooner or later, the whole house of cards will collapse, taking them with it, and we will have a Great Depression the likes of which even GOD has never seen...unless these greedy business owners pull their heads outta their asses, we're all in for one hell of a bad ride.
