Home Depot, Lowes, out of plywood.
In Foley Alabama, my home town.
We're about 10 miles due north of Gulf Shores, half way between Mobile and Pensacola.
I was there to pick up some furnace/AC filters.
Parking lot was almost full.

I think Ivan will continue its westard move and go in around New Orleans, which is about the worst place it could hit.
I'll be watching the projected storm track very closely over the next 24-48 hours.

We have a place we can bail to about 100 miles north of mobile if need be.

6. I thought the US had lots and lots of softwood lumber
Maybe they should re-think the illegal tarriff on Canadian lumber.

7. Question for you, trof (and others in hurricane zones)
...if you don't mind. My husband is going to go down to FL to help a friend rebuild a little--Do you think wood (like 4x4's, fencing) will be in short supply there (mid-coast FL) in a couple of weeks? Should he bring some?

Appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

9. Hard to say, tofu.
Welcome to DU, BTW.
:hi:
2X4s or 2X6s if they're framing a building.
Hurricane clips.
Plywood was already in short supply and $$$$.
Probably best to call ahead and ask.

10. Update:
It ain't lookin' good down here in L.A. (Lower Alabama)
We've got all the outside stuff (missiles) inside, important files in a briefcase, silver in the car. Took down and lashed the swing on the dock and the one up here on the deck.
I'll be watching this throughout the night and into the early a.m. We'll make the bail out decision then.

Three of the 5 NOAA computer models have Ivan coming through our area. It was only two this morning.

I coulda done without this.
Keep all digits crossed.
