one woman's debate critique (bush)

Bush's first words in the debate rebuttal started with the words 9-11 mentioned twice in one sentence. He reiterated many times throughout the debates the same thoughts which were 'America is a safer better place now'. But what really struck me was how many used the word 'I', such as "I know how to lead, the people know where I stand, my duty is to defeat the enemy, spread liberty, defeat this enemy". He proved his inability to think past his own one-way thinking when he expressed he would not be interested in bi-lateral talks with North Korea. This I felt, was not the offensive strategy he seems to express as being proud of...but quite the opposite, putting these countries more on the defensive than ever. Personally, I feel his egotistical style of leadership to be the most frightening aspect of his character.

Bush proved to me his unbending inflexibility on any issue, because once he made his mind up, he was not going to to change it. He had nothing to offer in terms of a plan for exiting this war on terror, only that it was a 'hard job' and his overuse of certain statements such as 'this is hard work' made me think he was talking about himself rather than the business of Iraq.

In his closing statement he used trigger words that psychologically speak volumes about the man: Liberty, hardwork, challenged, and some Bible quotation about the Valley of Peace - all which could describe the man himself.

even the part about consoling the wife of the slain soldier - It was "difficult" for HIM, and "work" for HIM.

The selfish bastard doesn't give a flying f**k about anyone but himself and it shows. His words about those who fought and died for his mistake smacked of insincerity and had the hollow ring of his malignant narcissism.

I forgot about his statement to the soldier's wife.

In contrast, Kerry seemed poised and professional and I like when Kerry said the 'future belongs to freedom not fear' and the fact our country needs a new credibility, fresh start!
