3. Poland comment tanked President Ford

back when the gaffe meant more than party loyalty in the media. Good to connect the parall fantasy with the result. They tried valiantly to make excuses for Ford saying then Communist Poland was a free nation.

Bush's comment is more outrageously deceptive and something he apparently believes even on his good days. Bush IS a gaffe.
