Being Presnit must REALLY be "Hard work"
"Killer" Scarborough said last night that he counted the presnit saying "Hard work" about 11 times - so that point is obviously pretty important to him.

I guess that explains why bush's total time on vacation equates to 27% of his time in office!

If it's so f'n hard, how has he managed to be on vacation for 1/4 of his (p)residency?

6. I think Kerry missed an opening when AWOL/moron said, "hard work"
so many times.

Should have said, "This President keeps saying what hard work this is. Published reports say this president has taken more vacation time than any president in history. He was even on vacation when he received the August 6th CIA warning of the 9/11 attacks by hijackings and never even cut that vacation short."

11. I also am troubled by all the hard work George is forced to do.
Your suggestion of retirement is the best solution for all concerned.

We also 'on the left' are very concerned for GW's health and only wish for him to be healthy and prosperous. Therefore, we will work with all our efforts for George's benefit, that he NOT be re-elected because we only have his best interests in mind.

:D

2. "Hard Work" is code for "Dead American Soldiers".
My dad, who hasn't voted in a presidential election in a while, told me this on the phone right after the debate. He's a veteran and was admittedly moved by Kerry's performance--fired up to say the least.

4. I am reminded of Will Farrell's parody of Bush
in the 2000 election. "Being president is HARD".

5. This is Great!
I can not believe people are not talking about this more.

I think this made Bush look, whiney, weak, and incompetent. It is not that he needed any help, but my brother-in-law is leaning to Bush and it is stuff like this that I think I can use to bring him over to the resistance.

9. Great point from TPM reader on the site now:
"The 'hard work' is not getting the casualty report. The 'hard work' is being the casualty."

Kerry should use this line TODAY.

10. Junior got his "hard" on 23 times. (Difficult? NEVER.)
"It's hard work. It's incredibly hard." ... "It's the hardest decision a president makes." ... "There's a lot of good people working hard." ... "There's a lot of really good people working hard to do so. It's hard work." ... "It's a -- and it's hard work. I understand how hard it is." ... "I see on the TV screens how hard it is." ... "The plan says we'll train Iraqi soldiers so they can do the hard work, and we are." ... "It is hard work. It is hard work to go from a tyranny to a democracy. It's hard work to go from a place where people get their hands cut off or executed to a place where people are free." ... "You know, my hardest -- the hardest part of the job is to know that I committed the troops in harm's way and then do the best I can to provide comfort for the loved ones who lost a son or a daughter or a husband and wife." ... "You know, it's hard work to try to love her as best as I can," ... "It's hard work. Everybody knows it's hard work, because there's a determined enemy that's trying to defeat us." ... "I understand how hard it is to commit troops." ... "Vladimir is going to have to make some hard choices," ... "We've done a lot of hard work together over the last three and a half years."

Junior NEVER used the word 'difficult.' Not once.

16. "Difficult" is, well difficult
I think we are being to tough on poor George. We should do more to make his life more pleasurable.

12. I too noticed the "hard work" slogan

I only unmuted the debate a few times and each time I heard him saying "hard work".

and was left wondering why his handlers wanted him to keep saying that? was it to be a talking point for his followers today? how hard the pres. works to keep us safe - bless him

15. In the context of a debate, it just seemed like whining.
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 12:12 PM by Cat Atomic
I know his intention was to use "hard work" as some sort of explanation for all the American casualties in Iraq, but in the context of a presidential debate, it just seemed like a big whiny excuse to keep his job. Seemed more like, "yeah, I fucked up but this is hard!".
