Fox claimed Kerry sez: "I'm a metrosexual" and "I do manicures"

Josh Marshall (Talkingpointsmemo.com) has some interesting posts up about Fox News. It seems in an article (which Fox since removed without explanation) they attributed some bogus quotes to Kerry. They had him saying stuff like: "Women should like me! I do manicures!" and (comparing himself to the president: "I'm metrosexual — he's a cowboy."

I believe the manicure stuff is meant by the GOP to work with the talking point that's being repeated by consevative columnists, who are claiming that Bush was too exhausted after a busy day of comforting hurricaine victims to perform well on the debates. Meanwhile Kerry, supposedly, was holed up in a luxurious hotel room getting manicures. (I think two NY Post columnists made this claim, so it seems "manicure" is the new "orange."

Pretty desperate, eh? Anywho, Marshall has asked a contact at FAux to get back to him with an explanation. He's got a screen shot that he's going to upload later as well.

This is exactly the tripe that "elected" Bush in 2000.

If the rest of the news industry picks up on this, it will work in Bush's favor. If they don't, then it might actually backfire, allowing people to see how skewed Fox is. Here's hoping.
