Funny story. I was just getting into my car after shopping. Some lady parked two cars from me asked me what "Hatriotism" was (I have a "DEFEAT HATRIOTISM" bumper sticker on my car. I explained as best I could about people who hated other people who weren't as patriotic and/or just not like them. Then she asked me if I was from this other state originally - I said "yes", then I said "not that it matters". She said "huh" and got into her "Bush-Cheney" stickered Explorer and drove away. It took me a second, but I finally got a big grin on my face. There is a prejudice/bigotry that all the people from this other state (where I'm from) are liberals and that they are taking over their area (they even have a really rude name for these people). Not only did the "hatriotism" explanation stop her from being as rude as she likely wanted to be, she still displayed her bigotry with the seemingly innocent question she asked - I thought the whole exchange was rather enjoyable.
