President Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove, said Wednesday that the Bush-Cheney campaign is planning some October "surprises" for challengers John Kerry and John Edwards.

"We've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring," Rove told ABC radio host Sean Hannity while explaining that he intends to wage an aggressive campaign no matter what the polls show.

A man called Sean Hannity after 4 PM ET today. Said he lived in Naples, FL, but originally lived in MA. He said that Kerry lost his first congressional race when networks aired a film of Kerry (in uniform) burning & urinating on an American flag. Sean was skeptical. The guy suggested checking with possibly John O'Neill or Howie Carr in MA. Anyone ever hear about anything like this? FR

Meanwhile, another FR thread notes that Bob Dornan tried to link Kerry to flag-burning in the '70s on Hannity's TV show in August:

Bob Dornan went on a savage attack, showing burned US flag and VC/Communist flags that were burned by Kerry's anti-war group in 1971.

The Freeper who describes this Dornan appearance goes on to say, Dornan also wanted Fox to have anti-Kerry widows from the Vietnam war. Which brings us back to the latest ad by the Swift boat Kerry-haters, which -- yes -- features wives of Vietnam POWs.

We need to be aggressive here and knock these fuckers out of the park this time. I thought the Smear Boat liars would fade away...but I'm not going to advocate pacifism about these fuckers any longer.

The media is pumping up the idea that this latest Al Qaeda video shows "desperation". Talk about sucking up to Rove! It seems to be setting the groundwork for an October surprise if they know where he is/have him.

3. Why should we be surprised that the Shitboat Liars won't

go away. They've been taken seriously by the whorish media. John O'Neill has had his mug on every cable show since the first ads appeared. Tweety had him on unopposed for a full fifteen minutes a few days ago. They've got money to burn. Their disgraced former lawyer is now popping up all over including on Scarborough as a post debate commentator. The Shitboat Liars should have been ridden out of town on a rail a long time ago.

After last night, their slime may be starting to look desperate and not nearly as sticky.

Same with the flip-flop sham. I admit, I tended to cringe a little when they brought that out, but last night when * did it, all I could think was, 'that's all they got, and it doesn't even stick.' And I really think that's bound to be resonating in more people than just me.

The smear boats have been disproven, and it doesn't take any intelligence at all to see that. We just have to make the information available, and that's what Du helps us all do.

6. Karl Rove is pulling out his old character assassination tricks....

Trying to slime Kerry with a "metrosexual" tag....

Fox News has posted a redaction and an apology for running a story filled with falsified Kerry quotes, making it appear that Kerry is a vain metrosexual (which is code for bisexual "wink-wink").

Fox actually made up quotes and attributed them to John Kerry, then published them on their web site. Now they say their sorry, but they've already done the damage they set out to do. Isn't that the way the Rovians work, let a false story sink in until it becomes part of one's memory? Let's put an end to Rovian slime once and for all.
