Computer Voting will be 30% of 2004 ballots... who has e-vote state map?
I'm afraid the "theft of the election" is going to quite ugly.

WHo has the e-vote map by state...to see which states they will "flip".

Here are my thoughts:

* Kerry will be "flipped" some meaningless "red state"...blamed on e-vote

* AWOL get's the "juicy" evote states like Florida, Ohio etc...

They will declare it a "mess"...can't audit.

But...I would like to see which states are the LARGEST AT RISK so we
can help document for the e-vote court battle ahead.

1. Here is some extensive information.
http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=11517

Touch screen voting machines will account for approximately 30% of the votes cast in the U.S. elections this November. In 20 swing states, where the election is expected to be close, 14 states (representing over 200 electoral votes) will be using electronic voting, many for the first time. Because U.S. national elections are won or lost on a state-by-state basis, results in these 20 states will likely determine the winner. (A total of 270 electoral votes are needed to win the presidential election.) Nevada will be the first state to have a paper audit trail for its new machines, and some states have implemented DREs in only some of the counties in the state. For example after objections were raised in Ohio, only 6 counties will be using DREs. In Florida, 15 of 67 counties, including Miami-Dade and Broward will use the new machines. (County by county breakdowns for all states are available at Electionline.org) The maps below show which swing states have implemented electronic voting and show current polling data which indicates which candidate is believed most likely to win the state's electoral votes. Poll data is a composite of recent Zogby, Rasmussen, Scripps Howard and other published polls.

21. York County is mechanical (lever) voting machines.
Yellow is voting machine (lever). Green is DRE ("touchscreen"). Orange is punch card. Red is optical scan.

For a breakdown by county, click on the State first, then under the heading "additional maps" click on "voting system used" ... areas highlited in GREEN = electronic voting machines ...

15. Electionline
tends to be horribly out of date.

I was webmaster for www.verifiedvoting.org for almost a year and we scrutinized the data at www.electionline.com. Based on our knowledge of "what was really there" versus what they reported, we tend to use that only as a rough estimate.

30. Yeah Greg, these do seem like very rough estimates.
I think electronic voting is in the 45 to 50% range, at least that is what I have heard. I hope its not the case.

Do you know of another place we can receive a better layout of what counties are using electronic voting?

31. Not really Shance
However, I have been looking at this stuff for a couple days, and Electionline may have brought themselves up to date a bit better.

I just wrote to them, asking this question, and will let you know if I hear something.

8. NPR just did a story "explaining" how NJ went from 20 pts. +Kerry...
to a dead heat. They then did a few "man in the street" interviews showing that "the polls are right". A truly masterful piece of propaganda.

So I thought, "Wonder if NJ is going touchscreen.."

And, sure enough, they are...

9. This is IT, kids..
Kerry cannot lose an honest election. The republicans are getting ready to steal it with the biggest example of voter fraud in the history of voting. What can we do? How can we get this into the public consciousness?

11. They Key to winning at this point is voter turnout.....
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 09:05 AM by leftchick
with a HUGE voter turnout it will make it much harder for them to steal. Also use absentee ballots. I have touchscreens in my precinct in NC. My husband and I are voting using absentee ballots. At least I can actually have a ballot to count!

12. I think the key is validated exit polls....not synched w/ e-vote group
company replacing Voters News Service.

They have a new company doing it this time.... all the media formed a new consortium.

14. More info here
I just launched this site for Rush Holt.

From this page http://www.counteveryvote.org/getinformed.jsp we have a link to a recent Economist article http://www.counteveryvote.org/resources/articles/the-trouble-with-technology.jsp.

It also lists as many national and state organizations as I could locate that are working on election protection and related.

My recommendation is that if you want to make a difference, sign up with http://www.electionprotection2004.org/ or http://www.electionprotectionvolunteer.org/ and be a pollwatcher.

Also be aware of https://vevo.verifiedvoting.org/eirs/ and www.votewatch.us so that you can report problems if you see them.

It is crucial that anyone that sees problems in this election inform the public community by getting the information out to these groups as early in the day as possible.

20. Let me also add.....
All of the above groups are doing fantastic work.

I'm adding Blackboxvoting.org.

Don't care which group people get involved with, just get involved.

Hey Greg, wonder if Holt could pool from the various groups and create a PEOPLES' exit polling organization, especially for the state where the outcome is going to be close.

I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board.

23. We need a better definition of their plans
of what Election Protection plans *precisely* to do.

It seems that with the army of folks that Election Protection seem to be recruiting (or at least, hoping to recruit), exit-polling is something that might be part of their plan.

People - if you are not signed up for some sort of volunteer roll, please get your butts in gear and sign up for the election. Be a poll worker on behalf of your county, or a poll watcher on behalf of one of the many volunteer organizations out there.

There can be few reasonable excuses not to make plans to have November 2nd off work, and to do your duty to help out here.

If this election gets screwed up, and it appears the more poll workers were really needed, don't blame those who have worked on this issue for over a year.

It's time to get active if you are not already, and that means more than sitting on the Net and bitching about crap!

30 days to go people...

28. Very interesting map for SC - Make sure you check your own state
DRE machine counties are green.

And now notice where the DREs are compared to the counties with a higher percentage of black population.

Makes you kind of suspect somethings up. Now SC probably isn't in the running, but it would be very worthwhile to compare these kinds of maps in swing states.
