Like FDR hid his polio, w is hiding his severe mental psychosis
in 72 he hid from his REQUIRED physical exam because his system was drowning in cocaine and whiskey. that's most likely why he's hiding now from his REQUIRED physical exam. he's still a heavy boozer, and while he's not on cocaine, he's definitely on a variety of prescribed psychotropic medications, like dear old elvis.

he thought being pres would be a breeze, all handled by his daddy's servants, but it's wearing on his tiny brain big time. and it's being hidden from us, because after all, how would the public react knowing that the man who's finger is on the button, is a total raving pill popping hallucinating deranged unstable maniac?

FDR had his reasons for hiding his crippling disease i guess, maybe he thought it would cripple america's resolve to know it. maybe he should have been straightforward about it, who's to say?

but w's severe mental illness and the numerous drugs he's taking to calm him down, and relax him and keep him going full time on the campaign trail, and to fight depression should not be hidden from us.

it's a cover up. it's a scandal. it's a national emergency. the president is unstable, won't admit it, and neither will his controllers. it's too bizarre even for a hollywood sci-fi screenplay. it's unbelievable. and it's true.

do you really think we would get all the details of the results? Of course not. No matter what was discovered, it would be kept secret. And anyway, a physical exam isn't going to uncover his extensive mental problems.

7. Isn't it REQUIRED that presidential candidates HAVE to have an exam?
I've not kept up on this issue, but am increasingly dismayed as I hear more discussion about it. Isn't it REQUIRED? Or does it not apply to an incumbent president going to re-election (not that Bush was ever elected)?

If this was a Democrat president ducking his exam until post-election it would be at the top of the newscast and the top of the fold of every major newspaper in the country.

I know it was Hollywood, but they covered this in The West Wing when the rumors about President Bartlett's MS started leaking out. There was a media FRENZY over it. Again, I know it was a fictionalized Hollywood portrayal, but why oh why can't life imitate art in this instance??

9. Yo, Mo, as someone who has had far too much
experience with mental illness (family), I agree with you wholeheartedly.

The stigma attached to this debilitating disease is such that many people do all they can to hide it. That is understandable if you're Joe or Janie Sixpack. However, as you point out, someone with his finger familiar with the button should, uh, have his head examined.

Isn't it astounding that something this globally far-reaching and precarious is able to be covered up?

Tardive Dyskinesia is a side effect of taking antipsychotic / neuroleptics drugs. Symptoms can be hardly noticeable or profound. Symptoms involve uncontrollable movement of various body parts, including the body trunk, legs, arms, fingers, mouth, lips, or tongue. Once any symptom of Tardive Dyskinesia appear, the antipsychotic / neuroleptic must be discontinued.

38. Brain Damage
"At one point during a staff conference, the President stood up and began to speak in an unknown language. Mr. Rove was able to stop the President and get him to resume his seat. It was reported by that for a period of time (about fifteen minutes) after this incident, the President appeared to be 'somewhat confused and very inarticulate.'"

http://www.tbrnews.org/Archives/a887.htm#001

Woodward also stated this in his latest book. Pres. Bush began to speak in an unknown language. Then he started speaking Enlish again and didn't appear to have been aware of the episode.

It seems that 99.99% of the Media have been ordered not to mention this topic.

"At some time in the past, according to both {redacted} and {redacted} the President suffered what one of his aides called "a very minor seizure" and as a result of this, the President has a very difficult time following any unscripted conversations... "{Redacted} has told us that Bush is irrationally fearful of a terrorist attack (as is Cheney) and like Cheney, spends a lot of his time in the White House underground air raid bunker, built years before during the Cold War."

or

"There are daily parades of born-agains into the White House, all chanting the praises of the Lord and Bush, in that order of course. Most of them want all abortionists hung along with gays (the Beltway and the Pentagon would be empty) and godless Muslims and Buddhists. Orwell would have loved this place! Yesterday {redacted} told me in strict confidence of course, that if Diebold didn’t reelect George, the Lord would. They all wear miniature US flags on their clothes but under the lapels they have "hidden tokens of the True Faith" and they flip their lapels with knowing smiles when they meet another True Believer."

36. Extensive NYT Article on Kerry's health - Kerry allowing his docs to talk
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/03/politics/campaign/03h...

Senator John Kerry, a lean athlete who is the picture of health as he skis, skates, cycles and windsurfs, is in robust condition, he and his doctors said in their first extended interviews discussing his medical history.

<snip>

The likelihood that he is going to have a significant problem with this cancer is infinitesimally small," said Dr. Patrick C. Walsh, the Johns Hopkins University urologist who performed the operation. The five-year death rate for the kind of prostate cancer that Mr. Kerry developed is virtually zero.

<snip>

However, CT scan X-rays taken at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston document that two pieces of metal shrapnel are embedded deep in Mr. Kerry's left thigh, next to the femur, said Dr. Gerald J. Doyle, Mr. Kerry's personal physician in Boston who reviewed the X-rays at the request of this reporter, who is a physician. Doctors treating the wound in 1969 decided to leave the shrapnel in place. "One piece of shrapnel is about the size of a bullet, the other a bit smaller," Dr. Doyle said.

<snip>

Mr. Kerry has colonoscopies every three years because of polyps that were detected in 1985 and 1993. None were found on his last colonoscopy two years ago. He has tested negative for H.I.V., and has never been in trouble with the law for drug or alcohol abuse.

Is this a challenge from Kerry to *? I bet the Kerry campaign has more extensive knowledge of the rumors about *'s mental health and possible drinking than we do.

Giving away my age here, but I was a little kid during WWII and I remember my parents talking about how the President had had polio and was crippled. Perhaps the extent of his disability was covered up, but the basic fact was known, and even used in polio-awareness campaigns.

She was a young woman when he was president. He vacationed at Warm Springs--for his health. But the media did not picture him in a wheelchair--or struggling in any way.

The decline in his health toward the end of his third term--& when he was running for his fourth--was the real health secret.

44. Hmmm
On second thought, after re-reading this:

http://www.tbrnews.org/Archives/a887.htm#001

If the descriptions are true, they are more chilling than my apparently feeble imagination painted the scenario. Given Cheney's opportunistic tendencies, I wonder. I wonder. Maybe it's not the coke and booze after all. Maybe a little birdie is spiking the meds. Or the coffee. Or the kool-aid religion, with a little help...

53. Forget FDR: let's talk Nixon
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 09:13 PM by chookie
Yes, FDR suffered from polio, but it never impacted his presidency.

JFK had a multitude of serious health problems, which were also kept private.

Nixon was under the care of a psychiatrist during his Presidency, but not for psychosis, but for symptoms of exhaustion....

But it has also been recently revealed that Nixon may have experienced bouts of chemically induced psychosis. Already highly susceptible to small amounts of alcohol, he was also taking large amounts of the drug Dilaudid -- often mixing it with alcohol at night. He was frequently incoherent at night. It can also produce very poor judgement, impulsivity, and episodes of psychosis.

It was known throughout his staff, and on a Need to Know basis, that he was periodically psychotic. Both Henry Kissinger and his Chief of Staff had an agreement with the Joint Chief to always contact them if Nixon ever ordered an attack on anyone, just to confirm it, and to make sure Nixon did not do anything totally nuts.

Kissinger wrote of being called on several occasions in the middle of the night and ordered by Nixon to bomb so and so, and Kissinger would reply, "Yes, Mr President, right away", only to roll over and go back to sleep. Nixon was usually too drunk to remember this shit, but at least on one occasion approached Kissinger in a very red-faced fashion asking, "Uh, Henry, you really didn't do anything, did you?"

Nice to know we had these failsafes in place back during the Nixon era -- sadly, EVERYONE is fucking nuts in the Bush administration and all bets are off.

The topic of the mental health of the Bush adminstration is a rich one -- there's a PhD thesis in there, to be sure. This really seems to be an age of insanity.
