bush's 'aw-shucksism' is pretty much petered out
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 10:56 AM by mopaul
the illusion that he's nice guy or an affable likable fellow is wearing very thin after last thursday night. the fake personae of a man of the common people is shattered too, except for the extremely hypnotized.

a nazi is always a nazi

2. Because he was whining and petulant and not gracious
What was to like? What was affable? The fact is that Bush is nice when cheered, affable when his ass is kissed, but thin skinned.

4. Along with the fake ranch and the fake brush
The only thing genuine about the man is his ineptitude.

5. Bush plays the 'aw shucks' game when really he is
Chatsworth Osborne Jr., the rich guy from the old Dobie Gillis show.

6. Oh my gosh, I hadn't thought about Chatsworth for decades. You're right,
the comparison is obvious. Elitist attitude based only on the possession of wealth.

That was really funny.

7. "The notion that Bush is likable has always been laughable....
It takes a Washington pundit to be that dumb." to quote the great
James Wolcott.

10. I hope that he tries his aw-shuckism at the town hall debate.......
It might play very badly--people asking him about the prescription drugs that are bankrupting them, their relatives in Iraq, being answered with a smile and wink and a hollow laugh.....

It's so wildly inappropriate--I hope Kerry just lets him ramble and smirk and repeat himself.

11. But one thing this format may allow him to do is invoke his
piety to appeal to the voters.

I noticed this in the debate. Kerry started out by thanking Florida and acknowledging they had been through a harrowing time. Bush answered with a me, too, but then seemed to deliberately invoke God to set himself apart.

12. Kind of makes me wonder.......
If he is such a phony, he must be trying to emulate someone. Could he be trying to emulate Will Rogers? "I never met a campaign contributor I didn't like."

13. I never thought of that before, but I think you're right
In reality the man isn't fit to shine Will Rogers' shoes (or Fred Rogers' either, for that matter ;-)

Will Rogers was the first King of All Media-star of stage, screen, radio and print. And a darn fine man too!

14. When "Aw-shucksism" becomes "Oh, f$@kism"...
... and all it took was one Presidential debate.

Kerry by a landslide.
