BBV: Need information on swing states and close races
The Congress is important.

Races for Congressional seats are not always in the public eye.

Please help identify:

1. Swing states

2. Senate races that will be close

3. House races that will be close

4. Counties with touch screens

5. Counties that have had recent "upgrades" in voting software

I noticed in another post there seems to be a trend for swing states to have touch screens this year.

Please include states as swing states even if they have recently polled differently. The perception is still there and the realilty is probably not out there in the news.

Insuring election integrity takes place on all levels, not just at the top.

1. expect desperate measures from the illinois gop
christine cegalis vs henry hyde (ill 8th?) and melissa bean vs phil crane (7th? sorry i should know) have a good, but tight shot. i would like to think ruben zamora has a prayer against denny hastert. i would expect them to steal votes just to be on the safe side.
don't know about the soft ware situation.

3. This is important folks
I agree with RedEagle - could folks work with us on this one? If you could come up with this info, it can be used for the campaign I described in this thread.

4. We need to know where the close races are
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 01:00 PM by RedEagle
Mopinko, thanks for your post.

Control of the Senate is critical.

In the House, even gaining seats could be influential.

We need to know where to put our resources.

You guys in each state have a feel for that.

It's a little late for the primary's, but next time around, with an election watch force in place, we could insure fair primarys, too.

Imagine a good, solid republican against a neocon. Those who think their party has been the victim of theft, will have a change to get it back. Election integrity is crucial at all levels, including within the parties. Ditto for the dems and some of the things we see going on there. (Georgia, for example)

Democracy will not be salvaged only from the top down. Indeed, it's been throttled from the grass roots up.

Help is needed!

7. I have no idea
of congressional race that will be close. I haven't been able to keep track of those that are really contested. www.dailykos.com may have some close house races.

However for senate seats here they are (S denotes swing state):

AK, OK, LA, FL(S), CO(S), NC(S)

Not quite as close, but dems may have a shot:

SC, GA

Several other swing states have senate races like PA, OH, and MO, but for all practical purposes the democratic challengers have no real chance.

10. Thanks HG
Doesn't seem important to anyone else.

Hey, we have only so many people.

We need to know where to concentrate effort, where we might want a poll watcher, someone to take screen pictures, and maybe a computer specialist.

Help us out here so we can help your vote count.
