A man's best friend is his dog, and Bush will come to rely on Barney to lift him out of the depression he'll feel when voters choose John Kerry. Barney will lick the ex-president's face and he'll fetch the stick however many times Bush wants to play.

Through it all, Bush will feel a sense of personal failure. He'll review in his mind the decisions that turned out so badly for him. He'll sigh heavily and question the judgement of his advisors.

Barney won't care about Bush's heavy heart. He'll love his master in the same selfless way dogs have loved their masters for thousands of years.
