Support Crawford's Brave Newspaper ... With Advertising! |
|
I just got these rates back from them this morning:
Full page - $713 Half page - $365 1/8 page - $87
If you can afford it (or if you can collect funds to do it), consider running a "THANK YOU" ad, even if you don't own or run a business.
I've got a number for someone in the advertising department, but I'm not going to post it here for obvious (*cough freep cough cough*) reasons. But if someone wants it, send me a private message. Alternately, you could contact them yourself via e-mail.

3. That's a great idea. I'd opt to collect the funds, but ... |
|
... I think it would be better if we could get one of the admins to do it.
If an admin doesn't step up, though, I'd be happy to.

4. I don't know if it should be a Democratic ad? |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 05:48 AM by The Backlash Cometh
Would it give the paper the impression that it's not objective? Someone should find out what the Crawford's favorite social project is...be it reviving a blighted area; or funds for investigative reporting -- which is at the paper's discretion, not ours.
Then it would be a worthy contribution and not more of the same that we're familiar with.

5. Great idea. I was thinking about that. |
|
I was thinking that, if we ran a "thank you" ad, it would not have to be tied directly with DU. But it could include the names of everyone who donated to pay for the ad.

6. Why not contribute that sum to the kerry campaign? |
|
The newspaper took a punch, like we've all taken in life from the bush junta, and i support them.
However, if we distance ourselves emotionally for a moment, the real question is what is the best marginal contribution of 100$ towards a Kerry win and a return to some semblance of human justice in american government. By that measure, the money in Kerry HQ will maybe be spent on advertizing in crawford, or in a place where it may mean the difference...
I suggest, that if you must "advertize", that you at least match your donation towards the kerry campaign.

7. Yes but a Crawford ad from DU is likely to generate publicity |
|
and if done right, it could not only assuage the pain for the Iconoclast but also could multiply itself several times in 'advertising dollars'.

8. Kerry has enough money, thanks though. |
|
This is an independent newspaper and they are at a real risk of going under because they chose to endorse Kerry over Bush. We owe it to them to thank them in the most valuable way possible so that it sends the message that a dissident voice will not be silenced for pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. If you want to send Kerry even more money, then thats your right, but honestly, IMO, I think it would do much more in the long run if you bought a 1/8 page ad.
(Here's a secret too: This election is already over. No matter how much money is spent now, its not going to change anyones mind. Kerry has built the largest fund ever for a Democratic challenger and he needs your $50 about as bad as an Arab needs sand.)

10. You're not speaking on behalf of his campaign. |
|
I've got emails from his campaign poeple that say otherwise, that every bit counts... as bush's war chest is even bigger, and the stink of attack ads is going to blitzkrieg every television set in the nation in the final fury.
I hope anyone who feels like it, supports the crawford paper, for its bravery, and that we make it a win win, kerry and independent newspapers that have the conscience to tell the truth.

If you think this election hinges on one guy and his $87 then we are in deep shit.

You could be seriously involved in the kerry campaign telling me that the coffers are full for all anyone knows reading, so i asked just so its in the open.
We're gonna win, and only if each one of us does not let up one iota in our unbending intent to take back the executive in the name of human decency.

I subscribed to the paper. My funds are running low but I could contribute something toward an ad if DU runs an ad.
