Kerry's performance was doubly devastating to Rove because of his |
|
faith in the power of images. In this department, Kerry's towering and dignified figure, almost like a modern day reincarnation of Abe Lincoln, destroyed the puny and grotesque Bush. The power of these contrasting images, watched by an audience of 62 million people is what is eating at these image makers behind Bush.
Their despair is palpable.Kerry, tall and dignified, exuding optimism and speaking in clear understandable English. Bush, mean looking, small, repeating set phrases that don't make sense from the very first time they are uttered, clearly uncomfortable in his exposure, are the stuff political epitaphs are written on.

Good observation. I think because he was leaning on the podium, his stature in the t.v. screen did seem to fluctuate.

He seemed to get physically smaller as the debate wore on.

7. Ah...Lincoln (spoken like Homer Simpson) |
|
The Repubs never tire of mentioning him - you have to go that far back to find one who was sane, brilliant, and lauded by most, and that history smiles upon. Of course he no more resembled the present-day Rethugs than Karl Marx did - but can you imagine the Repubs being the party of Abolition?
Hahaha.

I cannot stand the thought of seeing this pathetic Sociopath after this election. If the Neo Fascists retain power I guess I will have to stop watching any TV, except the programs I tape.

10. Kerry really gave an presidential appearance! |
|
He came out slugging, was focused and precise while * continuously repeated his Rove-isms.
IMHO Kerry managed to demonstrate that * is only a bumper sticker president.
Should be interesting to watch the VP-debate. My guess is that Edwards will prove difficult for Cheney to handle. He to rely on one-liners.
Content over style!!

13. I hope they have them standing at lecterns rather tha sitting at |
|
a table. Standing exposes any discomfort and fidgeting of the debaters.

14. My husband is listening to the debate on his computer right now |
|
because Steve Jobs released the audio of for free on iTunes. I can hear just the tone of their voices from another room, not their words, and it sounds like a father and his teen-age son having an argument. Bush sounds so whiny and sniveling and Kerry sounds firm.

16. "Grotesque" is a good description for *. He was gargoyle-ish in his |
|
appearance and demeanor. Yuck!!!!! How can so called Christians look at him and think they see God, when clearly the devil is at work?
