1. I predict
This is where the polls fall flat.
With all the new voter registrtion and an energized base I think Kerry is looking real good.
Still working to get the word out though and not taking anything for granted.

3. Absoloutely
I was listening to Air America on Sunday. They had the head of Gallup and Zogby on. They didn't reference new voter registration at all. There are many reasons for the change in registration numbers, but you can't get an accurate measure unless you find out the influence that caused the change.

2. This made my local paper last week
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 06:39 AM by OctOct1
It said in PA and I forget were Else.
That they were being flooded by the thousands of new voters.
So much so, that they are hiring temp help to process them all.
It is way to many for them to process alone.
Most are urban but a few suburban, but the big Rush is from inner city. I think these are Kerry voters for sure
:bounce:

5. Here in Philly record numbers of students have been signing up..
We have lots and lots of kids going to school here, and the DNC has aggressively recruited kids from CT, NY and NJ. Here on my street, which has lots of student apartments, every single 'kid' (I'm that old!) is registered.

We are going to swing the state of PA. Count on it.

4. With an energized base, we out number them
and now with all the newly registered voters we are really going to sweep them clear out of the WH.

8. NYT - As Deadlines Hit, Rolls of Voters Show Big Surge
October 4, 2004

A record surge of potential new voters has swamped boards of election from Pennsylvania to Oregon, as the biggest of the crucial swing states reach registration deadlines today. Elections officials have had to add staff and equipment, push well beyond budgets and work around the clock to process the registrations.

In Montgomery County, Pa., the elections staff has been working nights and weekends since the week before Labor Day to process the crush of registrations - some 32,000 since May and counting. Today is the deadline for registering new voters in Pennsylvania, as well as Ohio, Michigan, Florida and 12 other states, and election workers will go on mandatory overtime to chip away at the thousands of forms that have been arriving daily.

Tell all your freeper friends to read this article and weep. It's going to be Kerry in a landslide.

14. College towns?
I don't think college kids are counted as residents in the local census. A campus with 20,000 kids in a small town could easily make the registration situation look odd.

15. Makes sense
That is correct that now kids can register and vote where they school and they still would NOT be considered 'residents' in census. School is not their permanent residence, for most undergraduates and some graduate students. I hope this is the case and they are motivated to vote and vote K/E.

16. WILL THERE BE ENUFF BALLOTS, POLLING PLACES????????
DUers in states with high registration better check this quick.

In 2002, AR and TX at least ran out of ballots and there was a LONG delay in getting more; this discouraged some voters, who then left.

Especially check probable heavy dem precincts.

GOOD WAY TO NULLIFY EFFECT OF NEW DEM VOTERS.
