Fox News Channel admits reporter posted fake story about Kerry
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 02:09 PM by Cannikin
WASHINGTON (AFP) - An official at Fox News Channel said that one of its political reporters has been disciplined for posting a fake news item on its website about Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites).

Paul Schur, a spokesman for the network, said Fox's chief political correspondent Carl Cameron had been disciplined for posting an item on FoxNews.com that included several made-up quotes attributed to Kerry.

"Carl has been reprimanded," Schur said Sunday, defining further comment.

The article alleged to cover a post-debate rally by Kerry at which the Massachusetts senator was purported to gush over his "metrosexual" appearance.

1. That's nice, but did they apologize to Kerry?

I think that would be warranted.

2. Two times in the past week
Fox News has "accidentally" posted fake stories about Kerry.

The fact that they're now willing to make things up out of whole cloth rather than just distort shows how desperate the right is getting.

3. He wasn't reprimanded..
.. he got a pat on the back for trying. I think he's Faux's biggest attack dog. Him and Jim Engle. Otherwise he would've gone the way of David Schuster (anonymous #1) or that one reporter from Outfoxed.

4. He was just reprimanded???
Carl Cameron is the wacko in "OUTFOXED" who sits and schmoozes with the chimp talking about how HIS wife is working on the chimp's campaign. :grr: He should be fired, but he won't be. He just got caught. Murdoch doesn't give a shit that the Faux News reporters LIE about Kerry. It just doesn't matter. They are not there to present the truth.

5. Mistake???
"Fox is doing the right thing by admitting its mistake and correcting the record," Singer told the New York Times in an article published Sunday."

It wasn't a "mistake'. It was a bold face lie!!!

6. Who were this guys supervisors............
Edited on Mon Oct-04-04 02:15 PM by Jack from Charlotte
A reporter doesn't just write something and put it on the air. This guys editor or whoever it is that allows things to get reported or put on a web site needs a public flogging, too.

8. REPRIMANDED??
Docked Pay? Suspended? An on-air apology to Senator Kerry? Forced to listen to 48 hours straight of limbaugh reruns?

Fuck you Paul Schur. Cameron represents FOX NEWS; so FAUX NEWS SHOULD BE "DISCIPLINED" by the FCC. What do you think Paul?

Thank God for the awesome liberal media that offsets your fascist ramblings. --sarcasm.

10. This guy is a POS
And the fact that Fox continues to employ him speaks tons about their journalistic integrity.

As they say in court trials, once the bell is rung, you can't unring it. Letting something slip out and be heard is harmful regardless of how many retractions and apologies follow it. You place that seed out there and people will absorb it and most sheople will begin to lose the ability to discern reality from fantasy.
