I swear that the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce MUST own the Travel Channel!

I was excited when my local cable outlet first got the Travel Channel. But rather than hours of interesting features on the culture and natural wonders of the varied and diverse places throughout the world, I got "World Poker Tour" and "Uncovered: Las Vegas".

I mean, granted, the first thing that those of us bitten with the wanderlust bug usually want to do is sit in a smoky room, staring at five cards and the opposing players' pathetic attempts at poker-faces, nursing a Jack Daniels that becomes progressively more watered-down as you wait for the server to get off her seventeenth smoke-break of the day...

Yeah, THAT's the first thing I think of when I hear the word "TRAVEL".

Do they still even show "Lonely Planet" ? I loved that show.

2. That's why I stopped watching it.

Makes sense though. Be more national with the attention to help our nations economy. Just wished they focus more on other spots and lesser known/ less expensive places to visit within the United States.

You wouldn't believe how many times I say the exact same thing whenever I channel surf. I used to love the Travel Channel - now it's one big advertisement for Vegas - which I loathe.

Gimme 'Lonely Planet' any day.

Lifetime should change its name to the "boring-ass made-for-tv women's movies that even women don't want to watch" channel

HGTV should change it's name to the "while you were out" channel.

Animal Channel should change its name to the "Crocodile Hunter" channel

Hallmark should change its name to the "watered-down boring tv movies that make nuns bored" channel.

TV Land should change it's name to the "Munsters and Sanford & Son Channel" I swear that's all that's ever on.

FX should change its name to "FUX" in honor of its hit show "Nip/Fuck, er, Nip/Tuck"
