and the snarky, ever clueless, liberal-basher Instapundit.
I definitely had to vote for the eloquent Billmon, who had an enormous talent for intelligently tying in historical events with current events, for best rant. His bloggings will be sorely missed.
I voted DailyKos for best information on Democratic Party politics. Seemed like a rather obvious choice to me.
I recall voting for Marshall (talkingpointsmemo) and Atrios (Eschaton) for at least one category. Both of them deserve recognition, for sure.
I voted Juan Cole for best international blog, since his analysis of the conflict in Iraq has been invaluable, especially because of his expertise in Shi'a Islam.
However, there is one lesser-known blog that covers international affairs on a broader scale that I wish would get greater exposure. That is Jonathan Edelstein's excellent
Head Heeb. I'm extremely impressed by the breadth of his knowledge in international affairs and the fact that he remains well informed on areas of the world that are horribly neglected by American media. He also has what I consider to be one of the most sensible views on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. For that alone, he deserves a wider readership.
