STRANGE & BIZARRO!!!! Mushroom Clouds In Utah
http://www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page647.html

"On our way back home from a family drive on 8/29/04 my wife and I noticed a peculiar mushroom cloud just east of our home in Wellington, UT. We ran into the house and brought our both of our digital cameras and started snapping pictures. Within 2 hours there were three different 'explosions' resulting in mushroom clouds."

drivers parked at the gas station just down from our home, the drivers did not dare drive the road for fear of whatever was happening out there. Pretty scary afternoon, especially during this time of heightened alert in our nation."

4. MOABs and their precursors can produce mushroom clouds
The BLU-82, used in the first Iraq war, caused a mushroom cloud, prompting a British fighter pilot to say on the radio, "Shit! The yanks have dropped a nuke!"

6. Mother Nature?
Having seen the real thing back in the fifties, that isn't a nuke, but looks like something exploding from the ground like a new geyser or even volcano starting up. Do you have a university nearby? You should contact the Geology department and email your photographs to them.

A nuke has a blinding flash before you see the cloud and if you were that close, well you wouldn't be posting pictures.

Another possibility is a mining accident and you do have mines in Utah don't you? I remember seeing some smelters passing through there.

7. Possibly brush fires
At the bottom of the page is a similar mushroom cloud in Nevada, caused by brush fire (from rense, of all places):

10. It looks like...

...it's cumulus cloud forming over intense fire from which heated air is rising, and it is pretty common during wildfires.

Check out the Utah fire info page, and you see there are plenty of wildfires raging in that particular area.
