Am I the Only One Who ISN'T Buying "Fahrenheit 9/11"?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I thought it was a great movie, but I don't see any point in buying it. It isn't like there's going to be anything in it I haven't already seen.

1. Our home is a library of history books and videos...so it fits
right in.
And all our friends want to see it again.

2. Actually I think there is going to be things in it you haven't seen.
I think there are supposed to be some outtakes that weren't shown when the movie was released.

education library. Help the people that haven't seen it. Invite your fence sitting friends to dinner and a movie. Hold a block party and share the knowledge.

11. I'm buying the DVD and I'm watching it and I also saw it one week...
...after it was released to theaters. I want to have it to pass on to my grandchildren. I also wish to play in in the retirement home when I get to that point in my life. And if like in the story Fahrenheit 451 where the fascists burned the books, if this should happen in our society and all documentaries are purged, I want to be able to recite word for word what was in Moore's movie by mouth if that's what it takes to fight these bastards.

12. I like to support folks on our team so they make more movies
Not like Moore has folks like Richard Mellon Scaife who will willingly pay for books & movies never made just to keep right-wing shrills in business. Our team has to rely on folks like us to buy their product and I'm glad to give up $20 to help them out when the product is good!!!

13. I can't until at least after the
election. I am tapped out--I gave far more to Kerry and the DNC than I could afford. I figured that was more important--this movie has already achieved lots of success. But, eventually I would like to get a copy and show my support for MM.

14. I'm not buying it because
1) It's very good, but very dated. Who's going to want to sit down and watch it once Kerry is elected?

2) If I want to support M.M. I'll send him a check, saving him the overhead of giving me a DVD.

3) Most importantly, the movie doesn't even begin to explore extant, plentiful evidence that there was very high-level DOMESTIC support in the planning and execution of the 9/11 attacks. Leaving this out gives the whole film an aura of make believe.

I love the courage M.M. exhibits in attacking the * admin, but this subject needs to be looked at more realistically if we really want to know why things are transpiring the way they are.

But I'm not sure attempting to group all the perps under one ethnic umbrella is very useful.

By the way, half of NYC residents are with me on this.

http://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=855

And there is ton of good info out there in case any of the unconvinced are curious. Granted, you need to use your head and weed through the delusional crap that gets mixed in. Just do a google search for "9/11 truth" and keep an open mind.

Everyone else in the whole world is going to buy it, except you. Michael Moore will, himself, come to your door, asking why you have foresaken him. Then, the rest of humanity will parade in the streets wearing our Michael Moore T-shirts and waving our Hammer&Sickle flags to protest your very existence. Later, we will have gigantic planetwide orgies to which you will not be invited.

26. buy it--donate it to your public library. or loan it to neighbors/family
there are a wealth of ways to get added value from your purchase of it. Hey, you can watch it some time in a few years at your leisure when this bad dream is but a distant memory and realize what we were up against.

An added bonus reason: the more money Michael Moore makes, the easier it is for him to make his next film fighting our cause for justice to the common man. That's really what it's all about. We aren't just wanting to get rid of Bush. We want people to have a fighting chance in this world. Whether he was fighting big business, gun lobby, or GM....Michael Moore was always about seeing people getting steam rolled by the big buy and trying to point a spot light at that so we could collectively shudder and decide we want to make a difference.

38. Rather "Fahrenheit 451", the original
Kurt Vonnegut (sp?)'s story is the original metaphor... i'm kinda
tired with re-worked things that get sloppier.

Madonna did not make a better version of american pie, as with a
million "remakes", and "version 2's", the original is better.

43. The title's from a Ray Bradbury story
And I don't believe Moore's movie is exactly a "remake". He just liked the phrase. Much as Bradbury titled another story "I Sing the Body Electric"--"borrowed" from Walt Whitman.

Do you really know anything at all about this movie?

53. Good decision.
This way you can answer questions as they come up. It's a lot to take in even for those of us who have been following as things unfold.

Our 17 yr old son and his g.f. (with her parents' permission) went to the theater with us as part of our group. I doubt I'd have taken him if he were only 13, but watching and sharing it at home is a good alternative.

Taken one step further, let her handle the remote.

Let us know how it goes.

I ordered 2 copies. One to keep here and one to loan out. I buy as many LIBERAL books and DVDs as I can to support the Democratic cause. When a Liberal's book hits #1 on the NYT Best Sellers list or on Amazon...THAT IS GOOD FOR THE LIBERAL CAUSE! I do what I can that way. PLUS, F 911 has NEW footage that hasn't been seen.

44. Last night Michael Moore said doesn't mind
if people don't buy the video. He thinks it's okay for people to make copies or download it from the internet or even steal it. His stand on copyright issues is that it's only wrong when someone else tries to make money off of your work, otherwise once it's digital it's out there.
