AP: Mother of soldier killed in Iraq collapses, dies
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 12:30 PM by neoteric lefty
This is one of the saddest stories I have heard in quite a while:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/10/05/soldiers.mother.ap/index.html

snip/

A 45-year-old woman collapsed and died days after learning her son had been killed in Iraq, and just hours after seeing his body...

"Her grief was so intense -- it seemed it could have harmed her, could have caused a heart attack. Her husband described it as a broken heart," said Cheryl Hamilton, manager of respiratory care services at University Medical Center, where Unruh-Wahrer worked as a respiratory therapist.

/snip

Another family has been torn apart by this stupid war. WAre you reading this, Dubya?!?

24. I read the story, it brought tears to my eyes. That poor mother.
I don't have children, so I will never know the depth of her grief. And let's not forget the Iraqis, how they are suffering. While they die, idiots like $hrub comment on how "they are better off." There's a special place in hell...

3. I understand her grief and am so sad. Troops do what they are ordered
to do by commanders, but Commander In Chief George W. Bush is an immoral despot without sympathy for those who die, are wounded, or are mentally scarred because of his orders. May God have mercy on his despicable soul!

23. I feel so lucky..
My only son died at 8 months old...we lost him to SIDS. I feel so fortunate to know that when he passed, he was with his father and I. My son had a "clean" death..there was no pain, no fear. While his loss was the most horrific thing I have lived through as far as pain and anguish, I can only know how lucky I am, because I know he did not suffer. I imagine that once this woman saw her son's body, the rush of imagining every awful moment must have flooded her...nobody knows why SIDS happens...the deaths in Iraq have a very easy answer...Bush just wanted it that way.

I reposted your story on a local DEMS message board. Within a minute, it was replied to by a Freeper who ACTUALLY happens to be the idiot that designed the message board!!!

His response: My immediate response would have to be, "Who gives a shit"

This nation is DOOMED........................

9. OMG
are you serious? They don't care about families who are being torn apart because of Bush?! I bet if it was one of their own they would be crying like crazy and if someone who was a democrat said that they'd be calling them UnAmerican. Ugh!

5. She died of a broken heart.
As a mother of two draft-age sons & who argued with recruiters who hounded them in their junior & senior years of high school, I can only imagine how much pain this mother was experiencing in seeing her dead son's body.

22. Well, I am not too sure about what everyone else has been saying
but last time I checked, President Bush, as the Commander in Chief took this country to war. This soldier is now dead because for the war. There is no disputing the facts. Myself and millions of others feel that this war was a huge mistake. Therefore, I feel that this poor soldier, and apparently his mother, are now not alive on this earth for a huge mistake. Where is disrespect to this soldier? This person needs to think a little more before he or she speaks.

My condolences to the family and to all families who have lost loved ones to this war.
