A reply from Lands End...
Dear Mr. xxxxx:

I’m very sorry we disappointed you with our decision to grant Mr. Giuliani the opportunity to speak to our employees here at Lands’ End. From your concern we realize the timing of the visit may not have been well considered. However, politics aside, the former mayor of New York is still thought of by many to be an important figure in a very tragic and terrible event of our country’s recent history.

We apologize that we disappointed you and lost you as a customer, but thank you for sharing your thoughts, concerns and your decision.

Sincerely,
Richard Mensch
Customer Relations

Dear sirs,

I am a long time Lands End customer. I have read reports detailing
your support of George Bush and your permitting Rudolph Guiliani
to use your corporate premises for an anti Kerry rally.

Because of your corporate political policies, please be advised
that I will no longer purchase Lands End products, and I will
encourage my friends and associates to follow suit.

1. I wouldn't care but I don't think they gave Kerry a rebuttal opportunity
Well, not that I'm a big buyer of Land's End anyway -- no problem avoiding them from now on.

2. The former owner of Lands End is a friend of my grandfather
he really cares about the environment and global warming, he has spent millions on research.

However, he sold the company a while ago and I guess the new owners like Guiliani.

I think that you did the right thing sending them a letter, and I think that their response, while it unfortunately defends their decision, is not rude in any way.

4. Politics is about $$$
You can bet that Land's End saw some profit in inviting Giulianni.

9. Here's a quick one:
http://www.channel3000.com/politics/3768833/detail.html

DODGEVILLE, Wis. -- Some Lands' End employees said Tuesday they were hoodwinked into attending a speech by former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani at the company's Dodgeville plant.

Viewers said the company told them Giuliani's speech would be motivational in nature. Instead it was a political speach supporting President George W. Bush for reelection.

Prior to the speech, CEO Mindy Meads e-mailed workers, saying, "Excitement is building this morning. In a few short hours we will hear from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Please note, Lands' End does not endorse any political candidate."

Many viewers expressed outrage at what ensued.

One employee said he "decided to attend the meeting after being told it was a motivational speech focused on bettering ourselves. The whole speech focused on bashing Kerry, using the fear of terrorism to sway your vote, and using nonsense like not remembering baseball players' names as an excuse for not voting for Kerry."

Another said, "I want the public to know that not all Lands' End employees support the Bush campaign, including me. There has been much passionate discussion among my coworkers regarding this."

A Lands' End spokeswoman told News 3 Tuesday there was no intent to offend employees, and that the company would welcome an appearance by Bush's opponent, Sen. John Kerry.

8. I received the exact same reply.
I guess they have a form letter they sent out to everyone who protested.

10. Politics aside 30 days from an election!
Puleeze...Well I guess I'm canceling any future orders I might have. I know they recently merged (or something) with Sears as you can get their stuff there now too.
