Help! My co-worker's son is in Iraq. Anyone help me with this?

I feel so bad for her. The sweetest woman you'll ever meet. Her 19 year olf son is in Iraq. She wants to buy him some kind of protective vest to keep him safe. I have no idea what kind it is but told her I would try to help her out. This woman is a wreck. She throughout the day will just break down & cry. If anyone could help or give me any info. or a link I would appreictae it.Thanks!

1. Does she know if he has the new type of body armor?

This is the makers site for the Interceptor body armor that the troops in Iraq use (to my knowledge). The link goes to the page listing hard armor plates for use in bullet proof vests that stop 7.62 MM bullets that are used in ak-47's. The type she's looking for is level IV. Let me know if you need any more links.

4. TAP IV is the plate she should look at

This is the only authorized body armor by military.

I'm a veteran of OIF 1 and will soon deploy for OIF 3. This is the body armor that was issued out to me and when used with two plates (front and back) is very effective.

I can't believe she has to go and buy one for her son. I'm outraged that he didn't get one issued out to him.
