The Battle of Algiers.. Rent or buy this movie to understand Iraq |
|
read the reviews.. There is no way on earth that the crew in charge now could say "They never imagined".. A key player in Algiers... Chirac.. he was THERE.. That's why France was not eager to immerse itself in Georgie's war.. They tried to WARN him.. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/6302737249/103-4102434-3727839?v=glanceanother with good analysis http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058946/

I watched Now with Bill Moyers on Friday and was surprised to find out that Jacques Chirac actually fought in that battle. After finding that out I thought it would have been very helpful if the news media had told people that Chirac had fought in the battle of Algiers instead of pushing the idea that Chirac and the French were just scared people who just did not like war. It would have been good for the media to examine that idea that Chirac might just know what was going to happen in Iraq after the troops arrived.

and as an ordinary person, those two films flashed through my head when I realized that these fools were going to attack Iraq..:eyes:..
"Terrorism", as we know it now, is NOTHING NEW..It is highly effective in demoralizing the uniformed soldiers...and at the same time, it energizes the public.. It creates solidarity on the general public, even if they disagree with the tactics used.
