the logic of "fighting them there instead of here"....
Was listening to NPR interview a marine in Iraq. He said something like this -

"We're making Iraq safe for the everyday average Iraqi while at the same time fighting the terrorists here in Iraq (meaning drawing out the terrorist from wherever they maybe into Iraq)because it's better to fight them here than back home."

That would make sense if the people you invaded had anything to do with attacking the United States. How unfortunate that Rumsfeld finally had to admit no connection between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein.

I also wonder how the average Iraqi feels about that policy of using their homeland as a battleground for fighting terrorists while being told we're here to make you safe. Sounds like Bushspeak to me.

1. I'm sure that makes the average Iraqi
who has lost family members to terror, or who live in fear of kidnapping, are really happy we are there so that the terrorists don't hit the US again.

2. al Quaeda is not being lured to Iraq, rather young arabs are
flocking to Iraq to help, and in the process becoming jihadists much like the Russian/Afghanistan war was the genesis for al quaeda. Iraq is creating/replenishing the ranks with new/young blood. Going to Iraq IS the new training camp.

3. Absolute crap...
Typical of the fearmongering of the war machine.

"The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming..."

Have to have a focus of evil to replentish the moldy bombs that litter the landscape in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mostly now in the form of radioactive isotopes.

The game never changes, only the voting constituencies.

We are a nation of fools.

Do they really believe that Al Quaeda has given up their plans to attack in the U.S. so that they can car-bomb Baghdad??

6. That's why we need to set up crack houses
in the inner city. So we can keep those bad guys out of the burbs.
