Smacking down a College Freeper: SAMMYBLUE STYLE
Here is the most poorly written bullshit article by a College "journalist" I have ever read. I actually almost puked when I read this:

Scare Tactics Permate Campus Politics

Noahmijo made the sign that this woman is talking about with his girlfriend. When I am out there talking about it, I expand on the sign by saying:

"Vote for Bush and win a FREE trip to Iraq. All expenses paid. Stay in five star Army tents, eat quality MREs, sunbathe while ducking bombs and bullets, get fun new machine-gun style beach equipment, clothing provided and. . .if you are REALLY lucky, you'll get to come home in a box."

See, I am militant. Ask Noahmijo. I use what the GOP does against them, rather effectively. However, after puking through reading her article, read my response:

While Ms. Keslar is entitled to her opinion, maybe a bit more research would be necessary before she shoots from the hip and belches platitude after platitude about something she obivously knows very little about.

Her article deals with the concept of the draft and blowing it up as
"much ado about nothing." Her flippant attitude about this would be funny if written as a satire, but Ms. Keslar was serious in her claims that "the draft isn't coming to a college campus near us."

However, articles beg to differ, some as recent as September 20th,
2004, show a different light. I would like to pose three ways how this President is stating that it is his desire to bring back a conscription.

First, in Sedalia, Missouri, at a campaign stop, Bush didn't really
rule out a draft. According to whitehouse.gov (the official site of the White House) press releases of transcripts, when asked if there would be a draft to raise troop levels in Iraq, our President responded by saying "no, we don't need a draft. What we need to do is - DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT (emphasis mine)." Don't worry about it? This President sidestepped an important issue of forced conscription into the military, but, remember, don't worry about it? Ms. Keslar, are you trusting your attitude and snide comments now? If so, I am
worrying about it.

Secondly, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, "The chief of
the Selective Service System has proposed registering women for the
military draft and requiring that young Americans regularly inform the government about whether they have training in niche specialties needed in the armed services." The acting director, also wants to raise the of draft registration from 25 to 34. According to "senior Pentagon officials", back on 2/11/03, people with certain skills will ALSO HAVE TO REGISTER THAT THEY HAVE THOSE SKILLS (emphasis
mine), saying that "In line with today's needs, the Selective Service System's structure, programs and activities should be re-engineered toward maintaining a national inventory of American men and, for the first time, women, ages 18 through 34, with an added focus on identifying individuals with critical skills." Sound like a re-focusing and strengthening of a draft to me.

Finally, Bush could do what the Pentagon is doing with troops already in: extorting them into re-enlisting. According to the 9/16/04 Rocky Mountain News, "Soldiers from a Fort Carson combat unit say they have been issued an ultimatum - re-enlist for three more years or be transferred to other units expected to deploy to Iraq." Not only that, but one of the soldiers stated that "They said if you refuse to re-enlist with the 3rd Brigade, we'll send you
down to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, which is going to Iraq for a year, and you can stay with them, or we'll send you to Korea, or to Fort Riley (in Kansas) where they're going to Iraq."

So, Ms. Keslar, before you do a shoot-from-the-hip article about
something you don't know anything about, please make sure you do. I have refuted your article. When asked about a draft, Bush said "don't worry about it," the Pentagon is rethinking the selective service and the Pentagon is extorting soldiers to stay in the military. Those weren't emails telling us, those were White House Press Releases and articles from two major dailys in the country, not just an email. However, given that the media nationwide is solidily brown-nosing Republican, I'm sure you will have a long career lying like Rush Limbaugh, David Horowitz, Dennis Miller and Ann Coulter.

THANK YOU DU.COM for giving me the ammo needed to smack down this RW wanna-be media whore! LONG LIVE DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND and long live ALL DUers!!!
