Cheney Lied About His Senate Attendance
http://www.mydd.com/story/2004/10/6/132551/259#readmore

Looks like the US Senate has not been Vice President Cheney's "undisclosed location."

For those of you interested in confirming this research, here is a link to the Congressional Record. http://www.gpoaccess.gov/crecord/browse.html

1. Kick,kick, kick

Bravo!

I watch CSPAN a lot and I don't recall Cheney ever being on during ordinary times.

He was always there for the SOTU speech.

2. Let me get this straight...
Part of Cheney's job description is to preside over the Senate. He has fulfilled this obligation a whopping twice.

As a Senator, Edwards is sometimes called upon to preside over the Senate in the Vice President's absence. He has done this twice.

So Edwards and Cheney have fulfilled that Vice Presidential duty the same number of times...and Cheney says Edwards is inexperienced! :eyes:

9. And don't forget...
Hillary Clinton has presided over the Senate four times (see post below).

That'll really get their blood boiling. Hillary Clinton!

6. This is great. I'm trying to debunk my freeper co-worker...
who's been comparing Kerry's and Edwards's Senate attendance to the Chimp's vacation days.

This is what I'll need to get after her.

Thanks!

7. Also, campaigning for office is about serving your
country in the highest way. Clearing brush at your ranch when you should be looking out for terrorists does the nation a disservice.

11. That's great, but don't forget
A senator is 1 of 100. The president is the one and only.

The president's vacation days are much more significant.

8. We could REALLY get under their skin...
And say, "Gee, Dick Cheney has only presided over the senate twice. That's just as often as John Edwards, and only half as often as Hillary Clinton."

10. questions
1. Is there a link to Cheney's exact words about his senate attendance?

2. This link above isn't working for me, I get lots of internal server errors, but the pages I can see don't say who presided over the senate.

3. I recall Cheney saying he was there most TUESDAYS, but the pages I can see have more dates than just Tuesdays... what's up with that? I can't believe they only meet once a week.

12. Randi Rhodes said...
That Republicans usually have a weekly meeting every Tuesday (in session) to go over their agenda, and that Democrats do the same thing on Thursdays.

16. from the debate transcript
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/debates/articles/2004/10/05/transcript_of_the_vice_presidential_debate/

"Now, in my capacity as vice president, I am the president of Senate, the presiding officer. I'm up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session. The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight."

13. Why single that lie out?
There are so many, not to mention the other varieties of deception in which he regularly engages.

Even if he admits a lie you can bet another one was created for the addmission.

18. This is stunning
Another case of repugs accusing their opponent of the very offense of which they are most guilty.

I think this is worth spreading around, people will understand this. And we can truthfully say that Cheney brought this on himself by bringing up his presiding over the senate.

19. Keep this kicked
This is very important as it goes to the core of Cheney's "zinger" against Edwards. Of course, all his zingers were lies, but this one is the second biggest, Iraq/9-11 conflation being first.
