All this talk about "God Bless America"
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 02:09 PM by Dangerman
America is comdemned for illegal invading a country that has not attacked us and everything happening in the last four years, and every red-state GOP-loving dickhead saying "God bless America", especially the Bush crime family, for no good reason at a time like this? How can God bless an America led my a lying murderous hypocrite like B*sh

I don't think even God himself would approve anything the B*sh administration had done TO America and what they did in the past four years.

I'll bet if God himself see Bush continue to say "God bless America"

God might say onto B*sh...

"You lied to the nation into an illegal war, murdered thousands of innocent people, impose poverty upon the cities, disregard the needy, let wicked street thugs get deadly weapons, cut medicine to working class, and turn America to be the most hated nation since the Nazi regime in the eyes of the world and you are my representative? HOW DARE REPRESENT ME IN THIS TROUBLED TIME! I may forgive America, but thou shall be cast unto the lake of fire for your sins and crimes against this country!"

2. Just look at Dale Earnhardt Jr. support for the Shrub:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/27/60II/main645795.shtml

"Are NASCAR fans Republicans? “Yeah,” he says. Are they white? “Majority. It’s changing more and more,” says Earnhardt Jr. “But you still go to the races and you still see the rebel flags in the infield. You still see, you know, the aggressive Southeast a little bit at the racetrack. ...You know, the guy that still flies his rebel flag pretty proudly.”

But Earnhardt Jr. says he’s not like that: “It never really was me.”

Politically, Junior does side with a voting block known as NASCAR dads. He’s a Republican and he supports George W. Bush. Yet, he took his crew to see Michael Moore’s movie, “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Why?

“I like hearing both sides of the argument. I thought the movie was well done. But my dad was a Republican, and I'm a Republican, and so not that I came out of there going, ‘I ain't voting for Bush again,’” says Earnhardt Jr. “That didn't happen, and I didn't expect that to happen. I just wanted to go and enjoy the movie. Because I knew Michael Moore would try to push a few buttons. And I just wanted to see how hard he mashed them.”"

4. I would hope that God (if there is one) would have better things to do.
It seems like every politician breathing has to beg the deity for a blessing. Not to mention every fanatic to claim God's personal advocacy of killing the unbelievers, or panting to OK war. God seems to ignore the pleas.

My take on it is that God doesn't give a rip about our pathetic antics, or there is a question of his/her/its existence.

I prefer to think that, if there is a God, he's too busy putting on the daily magic show to be bothered with politicians.

6. We're as noticable to God as a speck of dust in midair is to us
Think about it....

We're denizens of one planet out of nine circling one single star out of billions in a galaxy that is just one out of billions in a universe that could be one out of billions.

I don't think that we here on earth are at the top of God's list of priorities. We're probably more like a petri dish growing mold in a scientist's laboratory.

5. You say this as if it's a recent thing...
Seriously, would God "bless" a country that was founded upon the dispossession of land from indigenous peoples?

Would God "bless" a country that maintained legalized slavery for the first 80 or so years of its existence, and then followed that up with another 100 of legalized segregation and state-sanctioned racism?

Would God "bless" a country in which 1% of the people own 95% of the wealth, while 25% of its children grow up in poverty?

I get so tired of these attempts to combine "what is God's and what is Caesar's". In the words of Abraham Lincoln, I would not hope that God is on our side, but rather I would strive to assure that we are on God's side.
