CLEAR CHANNEL DOES NOT OWN XM!!! CLEAR CHANNEL DOES NOT OWN XM!!!
My god, people. For a group that seems to pride itself on getting its facts straight, a lot of people have this one wrong. CLEAR CHANNEL DOES NOT OWN XM!!! It owns less than 2%, and it's getting rid of that. Hardly a controlling percentage, either way.

5. XM doesn't air Randi Rhodes--somebody at Clear Channel's sure
made sure of that. I think they own, more like 8% and apparently they have some influence.

8. Damn, how was I listening to her show than?
I must have a special XM radio, because I heard her show loud and clear.

She does get aired on delay and the show is cut a hour.

But I rather listen to Big Ed. I actually like them both. I wish they weren't competing with each other.

6. I'm confused. You said Clear Channel doesn't own XM but then you say
it owns "less than 2%." - So, CC does/doesn't own XM.

I have no idea what folks are debating about here, but this post is confusing (to me) no matter what.

9. I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear.
When people say "Clear Channel owns XM!", they're usually implying that they own a controlling share of it. 2% or less is obviously not a controlling share. So, my use of the word "own" means "own a controlling share". Indeed, they do "own" a tiny little portion of it. I probably have as much control as a subscriber as they do.

7. Murdoch-DirecTV-XM: They are linked.
And believe me, Murdoch has a lot of influence over them all.

12. Right.

In late 2003, Murdoch acquired a 34% stake in Hughes Electronics, operator of the largest US satellite TV system, DirecTV, from General Motors for $6 billion.

XM's strategic investors include America's leading car, radio and satellite TV companies -- General Motors, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Clear Channel Communications and DIRECTV.

10. Why would you care so much?
Doesn't matter a whit to me. Why does it matter so much to you that you repeat yourself in the thread title and hit the exclamation marks so heavily? I'm just curious.

13. I never seen anyone post that
I only read that Clear Channel had about 5% worth of XM. Post a link showing the post that has you all flustered.
