I think MSNBC is getting ready to dump Dennis 'GOP Cabana Boy' Miller
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 08:15 PM by russian33
Just got a survey to do online from NBC, and they asked a few questions, then asked opinions about various TV personalities, and finally asked about one specific...Dennis Miller...a few pages worth of questions (lets just say Dennis was a miserable failure)...I think they're trying to get a sense if anyone out there watches him, ever...

One of the questions was when was last time you've seen his show for at least 10 minutes? Question about his views, politics, style...

2. CNBC?
Still a good thing if they're dumping him. (Though we'll see with whom they replace him.)

> last time you've seen his show for at least 10 minutes?

Never.

16. Colin is actually worse
than Miller. Yep. It's possible. There are thousands of people all over this country who risk the loss of life and limb in their desperation to find the remote and get the channel changed after The Daily Show before Colin's abysmal show comes on. It's loathsome. The guests are, generally, cretins. Worse, they're unfunny cretins.
And Quinn being on TV. Actually, Quinn having any sort of employment, is one of the greatest mysteries of all time. He's a horrible comic. He has no intellect. What does he have? Is it a smell only cable execs can detect? Like dogs? He should only be viewed as punishment. You've been bad. You have to watch Colin.

26. Donahue was getting around 0.5, 0.6
So Miller is getting about 20% of Donahue's numbers.

21. For seven bucks an hour.
For that kind of money you can wear a paper hat and say 'would you like fries with that?' and not have to watch a pompous turd who sounds like he swallowed a thesaurus and is trying to puke up every page in five minutes. I'd imagine it would smell a lot the same, though.

22. Anybody see Wolcott's blog entry
On him?

"Afterwards, I watched Jay Leno, whose first guest was Dennis Miller, whose soul has sprouted tumors. He belted out the name of Bush's campaign website, and said he was voting for the guy because Bush, man, he begins each day with one thing on his mind. He hops outta bed, "his two feet hit the floor, he scratches his balls, and says, 'Let's kill some fuckin' terrorists.'" Dennis Miller not only sounds like Michael Savage, he's beginning to look like him too, an oily stain possessing the power of speech."

24. Then there's this gem...
From digby, the guy behind Hullabaloo http://digbysblog.blogspot.com

"You have to feel a little bit sorry for the cretin. He made a bad career move, casting his lot with the wingnuts because he got big laughs by making fun of Clinton and misinterpreted it as a shift in the cultural zeitgest. Big mistake. He's stuck with bully insult humor and that has a very short shelf life. The former hipster is going to be forced to socialize for the rest of his life with nothing but boring, flaccid reactionaries who's idea of fun is calling him "girlie-man" and saying he needs a haircut. That's just sad."

28. Infomercials actually get more of an audience share than Miller.
His ratings start with a decimal point, not even in whole numbers. Only thing I can figure is that the only thing that keeps him on the air now is that some MSRNC exec is indebted to someone like Powell at the FCC or there must be some other payback going on that we will never know about.

29. How long did Donahue last, out of curiosity?
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 10:44 AM by Cat Atomic
I remember all the commentators talking about how Donahue was being cancelled because 'liberals just can't draw an audience'. Seems more like liberals just can't be tolerated on corporate media.

Miller gets a fraction of Donahue's ratings, but he's renewed? Odd, that.
