About "The Reagans"
There was a TV miniseries called "The Reagans" which supposed to be aired on CBS last year, I think, but the GOP don't want to let CBS show it.

I was wondering, why is this miniseries controversial? And is it available on video?

1. I watched it
Republicans didn't like it because Reagan wasn't on the same level with God in the series.

I didn't see the whole thing, nor was I really old enough to remember a lot of the political stuff that happened in the Reagan years, but I came away kind of feeling sorry for Reagan in a way - like he was being taken advantage of by those around him.

3. It was shown on Showtime; very fine performances from Judy Davis
(who's always wonderful in any role) and James Brolin. Both were nominated for Emmys this year.

Here's a story about the controversy and a downloadable copy of the script (as a PDF file):

And it's available on DVD:

There are two immediate steps I need you to take to help us with the Defend Reagan Project: contact Showtime and voice your outrage and make a contribution to help pay for newspaper ads to be printed throughout the nation calling for a Boycott of Viacom.

We must stand united in order to preserve the record on the accomplishments and the greatness of President Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Sincerely,

The Honorable Howard Kaloogian
Chairman, Defend Reagan Project
