2. Probably because it's no surprise.
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 09:17 PM by TwilightZone
We've known for quite some time that there weren't any WMDs, so an official statement to that effect isn't much of a surprise.

The question is: is it big news to the average voter?

It's certainly a huge surprise to the average Fox News viewer.

Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 09:31 PM by fishnfla
how many clicks would it take, to find out, over 2 years ago?

what cost 10's of thousands lives, and untold billions of dollars and the ruin of our country and others?

and now the threshold of world war

If a half drunk couch tater tot like me could figure it out, how come....

ah fuck it, never mind. too late now

U.S. Report Finds No Evidence of Iraq WMD

By KEN GUGGENHEIM, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Contradicting the main argument for a war that has cost more than 1,000 American lives, the top U.S. arms inspector said Wednesday he found no evidence that Iraq (news - web sites) produced any weapons of mass destruction after 1991. He also concluded that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s capabilities to develop such weapon had dimmed — not grown — during a dozen years of sanctions before last year's U.S. invasion.

Contrary to prewar statements by President Bush (news - web sites) and top administration officials, Saddam did not have chemical and biological stockpiles when the war began and his nuclear capabilities were deteriorating, not advancing, said Charles Duelfer, head of the Iraq Survey Group.

The findings come less than four weeks before an election in which Bush's handling of Iraq has become the central issue. Democratic candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) has seized on comments by the former U.S. administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, that the United States did not have enough troops in Iraq to prevent lawlessness after Saddam was toppled.

The inspector's report could boost Kerry's contention that Bush rushed to war based on faulty intelligence and that United Nations (news - web sites) sanctions and U.N. weapons inspectors should have been given more time.

It's NOT news to us, but we should be shoving it down the throats of the Repubs.

6. It certainly isn't news to ME
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 09:37 PM by rocknation
I myself have Colin Powell's minstrel show at the UN to thank. The minute he huffed, "This evidence is IRREFUTABLE!", any belief I had in the possibility of there being WMDs vanished instantly. Not only were there no weapons deployable within 45 minutes, but the Bush regime knew there weren't because they made it up. And worst of all, Bush invaded before the weapons inspections were completed because if no weapons were found, he wouldn't be ABLE to invade. And his purpose in invading Iraq to was pillage their oil and build military bases to be used as ground zero for Bush's takeover of the rest of the middle East.

7. It's Because
I believe everyone here already knew this. Anyone who is rational should know what this war is all about. Honestly, it does not take a genius to figure it out. If people would put their partisan crap aside and look at the facts they would see the light. Unfortunately, many people love George W. Bush simply because he has an "R" by his name so he can do no wrong. The same can be said for Democrats. Since Kerry, Clinton, or whoever have "Ds" by their name they can do no wrong. I long for the day that people can wake up and start thinking for themselves and being critical of their leaders. I would say that Democrats are better at it than Republicans though.
