Y*VOTE 04 is a series of live, interactive television specials about the 2004 presidential elections. This is the first interactive, televised forum where people 18 to 30 yrs. old can talk about the issues that matter most to them.

This episode focuses on two issues that have dominated our lives since September 11, 2001: Are we safe? Are we free? Americans are probably the freest people in the world. But our freedom and openness makes us vulnerable to terrorist attacks. OK so let's tighten it up - but can you protect freedom by taking it away? For some Americans, race, beliefs, or ethnic background has always limited their freedom. Now there are new threats - from people who want to shut us down, to those who claim they want to protect us. For more information on this issue, click here.

Y*VOTE 04 features people whose lives will be changed by the 2004 election, and connects viewers, webcammers, callers and Internet visitors with celebrities, experts, activists - and each other. Y*VOTE 04's four programs will portray a single person, whose life will be changed by the outcome of the 2004 election. Internet users can join TV viewers by visiting a "two way TV" interface on affiliated websites, via a link to yvote04.org. They can watch the show on-line, and participate in the conversations using webcam, email and instant polling.

Y*VOTE 04 is proud to be affiliated with a number of organizations that are dedicated to getting politicians to address issues of concern to young voters, while getting young voters to the polls in record numbers. Affiliates include: compact.org, hiphopconvention.org, takingitglobal.com, youthnoise.com, chattheplanet.com, indyvoter.org, usstudents.org, youthradio.com, declareyourself.org, rockthevote.com, youth04.org, youthvote.org.

Y*VOTE 04 is a production of the 2wayTV Partnership:

Internews Interactive, a non-profit corporation whose principals have been creating award-winning interactive television programs for national and international broadcast since 1982.

Gekko Video, an innovator with over 10 years' experience in the management, design, and production of digital and interactive video, from early laserdisc to CD-ROM, broadband internet to interactive TV.

The Y*VOTE 04 team has worked in close cooperation with the following organizations and many others with a deep commitment to help young voters find their voice in the 2004 elections. Special thanks to: The Global Youth Action Network and Rinze de Brug.

The Y * VOTE 04 Primary Series is funded by the Sheir'ah Foundation.
