Oil surges above $52..... Enjoy your "tax cuts", America!
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Crude oil futures have surged above $52 a barrel as a possible strike by Nigerian oil workers looms and petroleum output in the Gulf of Mexico continues to suffer more than two weeks after Hurricane Ivan whipped through the region.

U.S. light crude futures set a a record high of $52.24 a barrel in Asian trading hours Thursday.

London's Brent crude also struck a record peak of $48.15 a barrel.

Earlier, light crude for November delivery rose 93 cents to $52.02 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Wednesday, a record settlement high.

1. Getting what they deserve
I have ZERO sympathy for the SUV driving pigs who are now getting their just deserts.

On the other hand, I cart show dogs around....maybe time to get a cheaper passion. I am more concerned with the seniors who have to choose between their prescription drugs and heat this winter. And with no flu shot because of 'shortages'. It looks like this tax "cut" is merely a redistribution of wealth into Cheney and Company.

3. OK, maybe I was a bit harsh
Sorry.

What I meant to say was the selfish, Bush loving, SUV driving suburbanite who has little concern for bettering the world and social justice, and is instead more concerned with getting their tax cuts.

4. No harm done.....
And I am serious, I have to look at getting an Outback or something smaller. And I know the people you're talking about. "Dear, dear, maybe only 5 days in the Caymans instead of 7 this year, Bitsy, times are tough!"
