Why doesn't Air America broadcast Bernie Ward and Ray Taliaferro?
Overnight Air America rebroadcasts Randi Rhodes and sometimes Al Franken's show. They could assimilate much of KGO's audience by putting their overnight hosts on. Ward is on from 1AM EST to 4AM. He comes on right after Mike Malloy. Ray Taliaferro would be a bit trickier. He comes on at 4AM EST until 8 AM, so he could only be on for two hours before Morning Sedition comes on (a show I've never been that impressed with, btw). Maybe there are contract and licensing issues that would forbid an alliance between KGO and AA, but I would hope that this possibility could be examined.

1. I think it's because of contracts
I'm not certain, but I think you were right in thinking that contract issues might prevent Ray and Bernie from being broadcast on AA.

Besides, Ray has been around since before dirt, and he's (IMO) THE leading Liberal talk host on the West Coast. I don't think he really needs Air America, since he's already practically a marble god, the venerable deacon of late night talk radio.

Plus, you have to remember the format of Ray's show is pretty different from AAR, with all those traffic breaks and the regular banter between Ray and the news/traffic reporters. They couldn't have those local traffic reports if he was on AAR, and the banter would have to go.

BTW, I love Ray! When I was a kid in the early- to mid-80s, my mother and I would sometimes listen to his show late at night. I didn't understand all the details of the political talk, but it just made me feel GREAT to hear somebody who, like me, didn't like Reagan one damn bit. He was always there to explain--with humor and warmth--why the Reagan administration was just so wrong about pretty much everything.

I consider Ray and my mother to be equally responsible for making me politically aware and helping me become a conscious and active liberal.

4. AAR
I've heard Ray on AAR twice, once during the Dem. convention and just the other day. If I remember correctly he was on "Majority Report."

3. Hell,why don't they broadcast Guy James??
Tuned in one day to something....I think it was in the morning with a couple of women doing non stop giggling and I guess playing what was supposed to be some Bush bashing music.

All and all it was just silly shit that I wouldn't think would interest anyone. I listened for a couple of minutes and shut it off.

AA won't give Guy James the time of day. Complete FOOLS IMO...
