Has Osama been captured? The first Bush-Kerry debate may reveal the truth. |
|
As we all know, during the debates Kerry and Edwards both mentioned the administration's failure to capture Osama bin Laden by outsourcing the job to warlords and diverting the US effort to Iraq.
Although at times Cheney seemed unwilling or unable to conceal some of his personal feelings (all of them nasty), I believe he is probably enough of a "poker player" to put on the game face when it really, really counts. But I am doubtful that Bush, as swollen as his megalomaniacally narcissistic head has become, any longer has much of that ability -- particularly when savoring an opportunity to kick someone in the teeth.
I didn't think of this at the time, and I don't have the debate on tape. But I'm wondering if the split-screen showed Bush's reaction when Kerry mentioned that bin Laden was still at large: did his eyes glint, or his lip curl with a hint of triumphant smugness? Did his expression flicker with anger, trouble, or fear? Or did he remain unresponsive? Bush himself may have sent an unconscious signal as to the status of Osama bin Laden.

just to hear * being forced to say bin Laden's name. He hadn't said it in public in what, a year or so?
I think there was one line * said that seemed to imply they probably wouldn't have him before the election, I'll see if I can find it.
