I rented F911 on Tues night. I think most of us knew most of what was in the film, but it's shocking when it's all put together in 2 hours.

there was massive dissent at the inaguration but our "liberal media" chose to ignore it. In pages and pages of NYT inauguration coverage it rated one paragraph.

23. In addition to dissent |
|
There was also some rounding up and arrests of people using their Constitutional right to peacefully protest -- that didn't make it to the "liberal media" reports either.

and when that egg hit the limo, she gasped and said, "They NEVER showed us that!"
I had told her before that this happened, and she didn't believe me.
She, like so many, thought that because Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw didn't mention it, everyone just got over the Supreme Court installing an unelected president.

I know this has been discussed here before, but the reason why no senators sided with the RBC is because Al Gore asked them not to.

Al Gore told the CBC the day before to follow their conscience. besides, democracy was not Al Gore's to give up. EACH SENATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS THAT DAY.

flush with just having impeached a popular president over a furtive blowjob from an overheated groupie. They were passing out flyers on military bases urging a military revolt if Gore won, and that wasn't even the worst of it.
The Senate was full of scared men and still is. The anthrax mailings kept them that way.

rolling over for this buffoon's administration even earlier than we thought! I saw F9/11 in the theatre on the first day of it's release, and bawled like a baby... left the theatre looking like Alice Cooper and mad as hell. It is painful to watch, as the truth often is, but ever-so worth it.

Mike Moore treats the day of 911 so carefully. The screen goes black and all you hear is crash, bang and people screaming. Even just the sound of that day left me sobbing. If that doesnt move you to tears you have no soul. Also isnt wolfowitz just a disgusting little pig. Looking at him licking his hand and smoothing his hair makes me ill. Sick!

I don't know, maybe I am just too cynical about all of this.
The thing is, Farenheit 9/11 didn't really introduce anything that I haven't heard or seen before. So, I was laughing at the funny parts in the beginning, and was laughing at people's reaction when the movie got really seroius.
I couldn't help myself. I thought it was funny. It really suprised me that so many people were hearing these statements for the first time.

22. NOTHING prepares you for actually seeing the film. NOTHING. |
|
How many "F-9/11" threads on DU? How many times has every frame, every nuance of the film been put under the microscope and discussed over, and over, and over...
And when I went to Tower at 9:00 AM on Tuesday and got my copy, I watched it and realized that I basically don't know jack shit.
I was 3000 miles away when the planes hit the Twin Towers. I woke up to the footage right before the second plane hit. When I saw the panic and grief of the people in the streets in F-9/11, I actually REMEMBERED some of these faces from the original news broadcasts.
All of the diversions in Iraq, the "war on terra," the Connecticut Cowboy Bullshit Bravado, and you know what? Bush DIDN'T "smoke 'em out of their holes," because it would have been BAD FOR BUSINESS. He filled over 1000 body bags with the spoils of his "agenda."
NOTHING prepares you for that movie.

I just finished 9/11, and one of the features afterwards. Literally teared up several times, then just welled up in anger. After it was done, I switched from "video" to "teevee" to be greeted with the Sheraton bombing in the "secure" area of Baghdad.
Fuck these bastards. I wish I could make every Bush supporter I know watch this film. I'm not sure I can much tolerance for Bush supporters anymore. I don't care that "they're just ignorant of the facts." The facts are right there. Not just in the movie, everywhere. The fact that so many people can be so stupid just makes me so sad I cannot even believe it.

32. I agree with seeing it in the theatre! |
|
I saw it the day it came out and the theatre was almost full (matinee). I spent the entire time alternating between crying and being furious. The rest of the audience was going through the same emotions. Also, this is the only movie I've ever gone to where there was a standing ovation at the end. I think I will now go and purchase it as a constant reminder to just how bad these past 4 years have been (as if we'll ever forget).
