I just received a "Voter Guide" in an email!!!!
Some of the stuff in it are quite astonishing.

Assault on boy Scouts for belief in God and not allowing homosexual scout leaders:

--President Bush supports Boy Scouts' stand.
--John Kerry opposes boy Scouts' stand.

Asking for God's blessing on America:
--President Bush often asks God to bless America in his speeches.
--John Kerry attacks Bush for mentioning God so often.

Judges:
--President Bush says, "We need common-sense judges who believe our rights are derived from God."
--John Kerry insists on judges who support the ACLU's radical anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-family agenda

At the very bottom, it says "if you agree, pass this on to all your good christian friends. If you don't agree, delete it."

This came from my SIL. I never respond to her political emails because it's just not worth alienating a family member & pissing off my hubby at the same time! I just posted it here because I had to bitch to somebody!!!

4. Well, here it is. Lies and all!
Issues of Importance

Gay Marriage:
--President Bush is opposed.
--John Kerry favors.

Partial-Birth Abortion:
--President Bush is opposed.
--John Kerry favors.

Restoring voluntary prayer in the public schools:
--President Bush favors.
--John Kerry is opposed.

Assault on Mel Gibson for making film about Christ:
--President Bush supports Gibson.
--John Kerry participated in Left's assault on Gibson, suggesting possible anti-Semitism, even though Kerry

had not seen the film.

--John Kerry insists on judges who support the ACLU's radical anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-family agenda.

John Kerry is insistent on blocking President Bush's federal judge appointments.

Overall Record:
--President Bush does not vote on issues before Congress, but, based on his publicly-stated positions, would

receive an 85% conservative rating from the American Conservative Union if he did.
--John Kerry, according to the highly-respected, politically-neutral National Journal, rates Kerry the most liberal

U. S. Senator in 2003--more liberal than Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

With help from you and many others, we aim to distribute 25,000,000 of these Voter Guides in churches and mailboxes to Christian voters across America.

If you agree, please pass this on.
If you disagree, please delete this.

I am passing this on. I agree!

14. But...but... "common sense" judges DON'T believe that...
..."our rights are derived from God." It's the RADICALS who think that, no matter what Bush says. For some reason, he keeps trying to appoint judges who have been against just about everything that has helped normal, average people against those who would push them around for nearly the last century.

Do you want the radical ideologues or common-sense people to hold judgeships?

16. Issues of most importance?
I don't happen to think so. What does Mel Gibson have to do with this election? They never mentioned the economy, jobs, healthcare, iraq war, etc.

3. What happened to choice #3?
If you don't agree, respond with your views?

This kind of email always irritates me. Spread my opinion or shut up.

And here's choice #4: Ask for proof. At best, the JK positions given in the email are distortions. At best.

5. send her this
send her this, and ask where Jesus says we should be looking after the rich, making wars, and cutting benefits for the poor. BTW, note how Christ says the NATIONS will be judged, not just individuals.

Matthew 25:31-46

31 ‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, 33and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. 34Then the king will say to those at his right hand, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” 37Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” 40And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”a 41Then he will say to those at his left hand, “You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; 42for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.” 44Then they also will answer, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?” 45Then he will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.” 46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’

6. Perhaps a gentle remonstrance to your sister-in-law
Golly, I had no idea that John Kerry, who attends services faithfully every Sunday, had criticized George W. Bush, who can't seem to find time in his relentless vacation schedule to get to church more than a handful of times a year, for mentioning God so often. Could you tell me when and where Kerry criticized Bush, as you say he did?

Because otherwise, I'd have to conclude that you're bearing false witness against your neighbor, and if memory serves, that's against one of the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20:16) What will you do to atone for this sin? How many people did you tell that lie to? What efforts will you make to set the record straight now that you've distorted it with a lie? Remember that the wages of sin is death (Romans 3:23), and that those who lie are unGodly (1 John 4:20).

(You can cut off everything after the Exodus citation. I just sort of got on a roll.)

...because he never does so without a camera crew.

WWJD about photo-opping in the Temple? We know what he did about moneychanging...

10. If all else fails...
If you're worried about future personal relations, just don't send it from your email, but from an anoymous one. If it's being passed on as a chain mail, there'd be no reason why it shouldn't arrive at an address she never sent it to.

This is not being a coward or hiding behind your opinions. It's separating personal relation from political dissent.

20. I live in Ga, but the emailer lives in Va.
It doesn't seem to matter where these people live. I've gotten emails similar to this from Nebraska, Florida, Virginia...just about every state where I personaly know someone.

I can discuss the war, economy, healthcare, and all the other stuff, and make a damn good case, but you can't discuss religion with these people! They are so convinced that anyone who disagrees with them is and AH, an idiot, and is going straight to hell!

19. I got one about abortion just now
...sent to me by an acquaintance who serves with me on a church committee. My blood pressure is still trying to come down.

This one was about -- surprise -- how we need to re-elect George Bush because he can appoint another SC justice, yadda, yadda, yadda, and that the war is something totally different from the abortion question. Bull-effin-shit.

When is it going to get through their thick skulls that 1) abortion can never and will never go away at the stroke of a pen; 2) it takes a societal change of heart on the issue to effect a change of mind; 3) that issues such as the economy have a direct bearing on the abortion numbers -- if people aren't in dire straits financially they are less apt to find a pregnancy unwanted (my proof: abortions fell during the Clinton administration); 4) The ideology of Supreme Court justices and federal judges are not bound by the ideology of the president who supports them.

One of the attachments (which I did not open) was to the Catholic Answers Guide, which might as well be paid for by the Re-elect George Bush in 2004 Committee.

I did not respond because this was on its third spam go-round, at least, and it was sent to all of us on the committee. But dammit, it's getting hard NOT to respond to this. George Bush is NOT pro-life. He just talks a good game and has a lot of sheep following his lead.

Like you, I just had to rant about it. Just deleting it was not enough to cool my temper. I think it takes one hell of a nerve to send something like this out to people whom you do not know well, and only have their e-mail addresses available to you FOR COMMITTEE BUSINESS -- not politicking or prostelytizing.
