The short version of where I stand on this:
1). Not a fan of Ms. Stewart or her work (just my personal opinion and it has nothing to do with what she did or did not do in regard to her stock).
2). Yes, she got a raw deal (pending the details of Ken Lay's sentencing and / or "executive pardon" by departing one-term president George W. Bush)
3). Yes, she is "being made an example of" (Enron again, as well as Tyco and Dennis Kozlowski's "cherub ice sculpture pissing vodka for my mistress while Jimmy Buffet plays a crap version of a Van Morrison song" $2 million toga party)
4). MSNBC has crossed the line with its catty, bitchy run-down of what awaits Stewart in the days ahead.
TO SUM UP:
I want the SAME level of details when Lay and Kozlowski get THEIR sentences...if that day ever comes.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6196954/"It is a world away from her A-list, red-carpet life. Secluded, remote, on 95 acres in the rolling hills, it will feature someone else telling Stewart how to live. This task-oriented perfectionist will, in the words of a former inmate, lose the details of her life.
The process will begin as soon as Stewart voluntarily surrenders on Friday. Just like every other inmate at the minimum security facility, Stewart will be fingerprinted, photographed, and strip searched.
She will have to give a urine sample in front of the guards. She will be issued a prison uniform and black steel toed boots. She will be given bedding -- a pillow, sheets, a blanket and towels. She will be assigned a bed in one of the dorm-like facilities.
On the outside, Stewart's golden locks are tended to by famed stylist Frederick Fekkai. But inside, she will only have the services of the inmate barbershop."
