"Saddam want's to aquire weapons some day" gosh it's all coming back to me now!

"If Saddam Hussein does not fully disarm, for the safety of our people and for the peace of the world, we will lead a coalition to disarm him." George Bush ~ Union Nations speech 10/02

1. One thing that people seem to have forgotten...
...is that in the last few days right before the invasion the Bush administration had stopped asking Saddam to disarm and were simply demanding that he leave Iraq. So even before we went in, our justification for invading Iraq had change from "he won't disarm" to "he won't leave".

2. Here we go...the lies...
President Says Saddam Hussein Must Leave Iraq Within 48 Hours, March 17, 2003

March 17, 2003

THE PRESIDENT: My fellow citizens, events in Iraq have now reached the final days of decision. For more than a decade, the United States and other nations have pursued patient and honorable efforts to disarm the Iraqi regime without war. That regime pledged to reveal and destroy all its weapons of mass destruction as a condition for ending the Persian Gulf War in 1991.

Since then, the world has engaged in 12 years of diplomacy. We have passed more than a dozen resolutions in the United Nations Security Council. We have sent hundreds of weapons inspectors to oversee the disarmament of Iraq. Our good faith has not been returned.

The Iraqi regime has used diplomacy as a ploy to gain time and advantage. It has uniformly defied Security Council resolutions demanding full disarmament. Over the years, U.N. weapon inspectors have been threatened by Iraqi officials, electronically bugged, and systematically deceived. Peaceful efforts to disarm the Iraqi regime have failed again and again -- because we are not dealing with peaceful men.

Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. This regime has already used weapons of mass destruction against Iraq's neighbors and against Iraq's
people.

Here's another blatent lie speech:

State of the Union Speech, 1/28/03

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. In such quantities, these chemical agents could also kill untold thousands. He's not accounted for these materials. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them. U.S. intelligence indicates that Saddam Hussein had upwards of 30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical agents. Inspectors recently turned up 16 of them, despite Iraq's recent declaration denying their existence. Saddam Hussein has not accounted for the remaining 29,984 of these prohibited munitions. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

From three Iraqi defectors we know that Iraq, in the late 1990s, had several mobile biological weapons labs. These are designed to produce germ warfare agents and can be moved from place to a place to evade inspectors. Saddam Hussein has not disclosed these facilities. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in the 1990s that Saddam Hussein had an advanced nuclear weapons development program, had a design for a nuclear weapon and was working on five different methods of enriching uranium for a bomb.

The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.

Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production.

9snip)

Year after year, Saddam Hussein has gone to elaborate lengths, spent enormous sums, taken great risks to build and keep weapons of mass destruction. But why? The only possible explanation, the only possible use he could have for those weapons, is to dominate, intimidate or attack.

With nuclear arms or a full arsenal of chemical and biological weapons, Saddam Hussein could resume his ambitions of conquest in the Middle East and create deadly havoc in that region.

And this Congress and the American people must recognize another threat. Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications and statements by people now in custody reveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of Al Qaida. Secretly, and without fingerprints, he could provide one of his hidden weapons to terrorists, or help them develop their own.

Before September the 11th, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. But chemical agents, lethal viruses and shadowy terrorist networks are not easily contained.

(snip)

6. Go to the House of Representatives website
http://www.house.gov

Then go to Rep Henry Waxman's page. He has a very extensive database of about 225 lies that the top people in Bush's administration have told about Iraq. Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, and Colin Powell are all represented. Cheney tends to tell some real whoppers.

Excellent resource for quotations from "the lying liars."

8. Bush has been consistent from day one!!!!!
"We must act now to counter the danger of the gathering threat from Saddam's weapons of mass destruction program related activities. If we do not act now, then someday, in the future, he may become an actual threat, and that would be unnacceptable!"

"Though initial military victory may come swiftly, we must be prepared for a long insurgency for years to come. It will be costly in lives and resources, but we must do this, for the gathering threat of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction program related activities is far to potentially great in the distant future for us not to deal with it now.

Thank you, and God Bless America"

(thunderous bipartisan applause)

President George W. Bush,
2003 State of the Union Address.

What, you don't remember? Well take this magic pill and read it again.

10. Gosh, I forgot all about this!

:P

"Today the world is also uniting to answer the unique and urgent threat posed by Iraq. A dictator who has used weapons of mass destruction on his own people must not be allowed to produce or possess those weapons. We will not permit Saddam Hussein to blackmail and/or terrorize nations which love freedom."

"On its present course, the Iraqi regime is a threat of unique urgency. . . . it has developed weapons of mass death."

Gosh who was it that said these things again? :freak:
