This winter up to 720 snowmobiles per day could roar into Yellowstone National Park. These snowmobiles are dirty, noisy, and destructive. They wreck havoc on wildlife, park employees and other visitors. Park employess are even encouraged to wear gas masks and ear plugs to block the air and noise pollution. Does this all sound familiar? Well it is; we fought this battle last winter, too. Thanks to activists like you, we overwhelmed the National Park Service with more than 350,000 comments against snowmobiles last winter, more than any other Park Service comment period in history. We need to outdo last year's record to save Yellowstone from snowmobile destruction!

1. i took a small, guided snowmobile of yellowstone a while ago.

and it was extraordinary. I don't think that the machines in themselves are bad- when we went, our group was 3-5 pretty efficient seeming snowmobiles, and we were very careful to stay on specific trails.

however, i did see other groups of 20+ people being dickweeds, revving near buffalo, and what not. i don't think that the tours are bad in and of themselves, but they need to be controlled.
